• Class Goals for today are:– To understand the steps in baking

cupcakes– To understand the steps in making frosting– To know how to frost cupcakes!

Directions For Baking Cupcakes:

• Step one: Preheat oven to 325 degrees.– While oven is heating you may line

cupcake pan with paper liners and set aside until they are needed.

• Step Two: In a bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine:

• Flour• Sugar• Baking powder• And Salt

• Step Three: mix on low speed until combined.

• Step Four: Then add butter• Mix until just coated with flour

• Step Five: In large glass measuring cup, whisk together:

• Eggs• Milk • And Vanilla

• Step Six: With mixer on medium speed, add wet ingredients in 3 parts. – Scraping down sides of bowl before each

addition– Beat until ingredients are incorporated (but

don’t over beat)

• Step Seven: Divide the batter evenly among the liners.– Filling about 2/3 full

• Step Eight: Place cupcakes in oven, rotating pan halfway through– Bake 17 to 20 minutes

• Insert cake tester to into the center, and make sure it comes out clean.

• Step Nine: Transfer cupcakes to a wire rack to cool completely.

• Repeat process with remaining batter.

• Step Ten: Once cupcakes have cooled, frost tops of each cupcake– Can use an offset spatula or piping bag to

frost.– Can decorate with sprinkles – Serve at room temperature

Directions for Making Frosting!

• In order to finish off the cupcakes we must frost them!

• Any flavor can be used, today we are making vanilla frosting.

• Step One: In the bowl of an electric mixer, with paddle attachment, cream butter until smooth and creamy.– 2 to 3 minutes of mixing until creamy

• Step Two: With mixer on low speed, add in:

• 6 cups of sugar• Milk• And Vanilla

• *Mix until light and fluffy

• Step Three: If necessary, Gradually add remaining 2 cups of sugar to reach desired consistency

• Some creative ways to decorate:– Use colored sprinkles– Use different shaped sprinkles– Can add food color to frosting for different

colors
