TRANSCRIPT

How to cleanColored diamonds are one of the most precious possessions that anyone can have. As we wear them, we expose them to other substances like lotions and perfumes.

These products can leave behind residue that can take away their brilliant shine, therefore, cleaning colored diamonds is a must. Not only will you be able to preserve them, but you can also be sure that they look as beautiful as they should be all the time.

What you will need:

2 small bowls A soft brush and a toothpick

Soap and window cleaner

STEP 1In a small dish, soak the diamond jewelry in a solution of warm water and mild detergent. You can use any mild cleanser. Leave the jewelry soaking for approximately ten minutes. Strong cleansers or detergents should be avoided as these can remove protective coatings.

STEP 2Transfer your jewelry to another dish with window cleaner and soak it fully under the solution. Let it stand for another ten minutes.

STEP 3

Brushing the diamonds with a brush with soft bristles will prevent scratching the metal setting of your jewelry.

To dislodge tough dirt stuck in between the diamond and prong you can use a wooden toothpick. You can also flush away dirt with a dental Water Pik if needed. You may need to brush the back of the diamond as this is where most dirt builds-up.

STEP 4

Rinse the piece of jewelry again in the detergent solution after brushing to remove loose dirt .

Let warm water run through it as a final wash. Make sure that the drain is closed or covered before rinsing. You can also use a strainer to make sure it doesn't fall into the sink.

STEP 5Wipe the jewelry dry using a soft and non-abrasive cloth that's lint-free. This is also the time to check the prongs on rings to make sure they remain firm.

Diamonds may be the strongest metal but careful cleaning is the only way to keep them sparkling and eye-catching for years to come.

To prevent scratching or loosening of the setting, it is best to store them in individual pouches when they are not being worn. When in doubt, don't hesitate to have a professional check or clean your precious diamond jewelry for you.
