DESCRIPTION

Want to stop sweet cravings? Here's a method that works. Cravings for sweets usually kick in when your blood sugar levels dip below where they should be. The sweet craving is the body's way of telling you to eat something to bring the blood sugar levels back up. These cravings will typically kick in if you haven't eaten for long periods of time. They can also happen if you've eaten some kind of high sugar, processed foods. (Think: cookies, cakes, candy, biscuits, pastries, soft drinks). Once the initial blood sugar boost wears off, a slingshot effect can happen, where your blood sugar levels dip. Sweet cravings are also typical if you're starting out on a diet. If you're overweight and you're used to eating large quantities of carbohydrate each day, your body will crave sugar or other carbohydrate laden foods simply because that is what's it's conditioned to expect. So how do we stop sweet cravings? There are many ways, but here is a sure- fire method that works.

Once the initial blood sugar boost wears off, a slingshot effect can happen, where your blood sugar levels dip

Sweet cravings are also typical if you're starting out on a diet. If you're overweight and you're used to eating large quantities of carbohydrate each day, your body will crave sugar or other carbohydrate laden foods simply because that is what's it's conditioned to expect

So how do we stop sweet cravings? There are many ways, but here is a sure- fire method that works:

Start exchanging lower quality foods for higher quality foods

What does this mean? Well, higher quality foods are foods that are closer to their original form. For example, a freshly picked apple. That apple is in it's original form and contains all it's fiber and nutrients

Your body needs to digest and pull nutrients from the apple. This takes effort from your body (your body likes this kind of effort).

This is high quality food.

Now, there are many different things you can do to lower the quality of that apple. Lowering the quality of the apple can mean a loss of nutrients or fiber, it could mean less effort to digest by the body (remember your body likes the effort), or it could mean that you've added extra calories in the form of fat or sugar.

You can bake it into an apple pie, you can make apple sauce, you can blend it into a smoothie.

There are a myriad of things you can do with the apple. Not all, but most will lower the quality of the apple. Eating lower quality food can trigger sweet cravings later on.

Bottom Line: To stop sweet cravings, keep the food you eat as close as possible to it's original form.
