Agenda

Integrated Planning

Integrated Planning A Closed Loop Planning Process

Why Integrated Planning?

► Measure Financial Impact of Strategic Objectives

► Develop Rolling Forecast Process

► Focus on Drivers, Not Details

► Link Human Resource and Capital Allocation Plans

► Link Operational Planning Models with the Financial Plan

► Allow for What If Scenario Analysis

► Mitigate Risk and Uncertainty

► Measure True Variance

Best Practices in Planning

► Spring, Early Summer Anticipated Release

► Significant Changes to Planning

► Significant Changes to HFM

► Micro Costing in HPCM

► DRM – EPMA Integration

► Not a traditional dot release

► Upgrade Path – Similar to 11.1.2.1

Planning Release 11.1.2.2

► Project Planning Application

► Native Rolling Forecast Functionality

► Strategic Planning in Smart View

► Predictive Planning Capabilities

► Enhanced Task Lists and Workflow Capabilities

► Enhanced UI using ADF – Charting

– Multiple Comments / Documents

– Formatting Comments, Instructions

– Audit Logging in Grid

Integrated Planning in 11.1.2.2

Integrated Planning A Closed Loop Planning Process

► Address the disconnect between project management decisions and financial decisions

► Calculate Project Financial Impacts

► Capital, Contract and Indirect Projects

► Risk and Governance Management for Projects

Integration

► Two Primary Integration Points

► Metadata – Refers to the structures, hierarchies, and members that

provide structure to data – Metadata is used to define forms, reports, and business

modeling logic within the applications

► Data – Data Elements Loaded into the EPM System – Loaded to Intersections of Metadata

Integration Defined

Tools to Maintain and Administer Metadata within the EPM Platform

► Data Relationship Management (DRM)

– Dimensional Maintenance Across EPM, BI, Data Warehouse, and ERP

► Enterprise Performance Management Architect (EPMA) – EPM Application Management Platform – Metadata Management is a Component

► Classic – EPM Application Specific

Metadata Management

DRM

► NOT GOING AWAY ► Version Matters

– Stable – 11.1.2.1, 11.1.1.3.05 – Unstable – 11.1.1.3, 11.1.2.0, 9X

► Metadata Management is a Component of EPMA ► Simplified EPM Process Design ► Expedite Deployment of EPM Applications ► EPMA Includes:

– Dimension Library – Application Library – Calculation Manager – Data Synch – Application Upgrade – Job Console

EPMA

DRM & EPMA 11.1.2.2 Complementary Solutions

► Tools – ODI

– Informatica

– FDM / ERPI

– EAL

► Point Solutions – EPMA Data Synch

– Outline Load Utility

– Text Files / SQL Loads with Essbase Load Rules

Moving Metadata & Data (ETL)

► Facilitate Management Reporting – Merge Plan, Operational, and KPI data with Actuals from HFM in one

location – Leverage Essbase’s advanced Analytics capabilities – Leverage user familiarity with Essbase and Oracle Reporting tools

► Reduced cost of ownership – Ensures data integrity – Basic knowledge of Essbase necessary in support of ‘bridges’, or

integrations – Basic knowledge of RDBMS necessary in support of data mappings – Simple and easy compared to alternatives – Secured via Hyperion Shared Services Provisioning

► Feeds for External Systems – Output HFM Data to relational targets

Essbase Analytics Link (EAL)

► Synchronize Data from HFM to: – Essbase – Planning – RDBMS Targets

► Synchronize Metadata from HFM to: – Essbase – RDBMS targets

► Synchronize Security from HFM to: – Essbase

► On Demand / Scheduled – Transparent Partition – Replicated Partition

► Persistent Connection from HFM to Essbase or Planning Target – Transparent Partition

Essbase Analytics Link (EAL)

► Real time data flow with Transparent Partition – Use Case:

• Reporting requirement for live link to HFM Data • No requirement to use HFM data in a Calculation Script

► Near real time data flow (scheduled) with Replicated Partition

– Business requirement to use Actuals in a Calculation Script – Note: Replicated partitions create data blocks

• Useful for using actuals as a basis for Plan, or as a basis to allocate data such as administrative expenses or revenue

– Tip: for replication, it is necessary to test performance on the amount of time it takes to synchronize and create blocks. It may not be reasonable to replicate an entire HFM app to Essbase. Consider limiting years, etc.,

► Use both methods, provided mappings will not overlap

EAL Design Considerations

► Synch Data between EPM Applications – HFM to Planning

– HFM to Essbase

– HFM to HFM

– Planning to Planning

– Planning to Essbase

► Data Synchronization will derive mappings from the hierarchy, and is must faster than XREF and Extended Analytics

► Limited Mapping Capabilities

EPMA Data Synch

Integrated Analytics

► Planning – Faster Cycles – More Scenarios – Better Forecasts

Exalytics What’s Better?

Unstructured Data refers to information that either does not have a pre-defined data model and/or does not fit well into relational tables. Unstructured information is typically text-heavy, but may contain data such as dates, numbers, and facts as well. This results in irregularities and ambiguities that make it difficult to understand using traditional computer programs as compared to data stored in fielded form in databases or annotated (semantically tagged) in documents. ~ Wikipedia Examples – Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums, etc.

Unstructured Data

Helps Organizations Quickly Explore all Relevant Data by:

► Combine structured & unstructured data from disparate systems

► Automatically organize information for search, discovery & analysis

► Rapidly assemble easy to use analysis applications
