Experience Lutron
At Lutron, our goal is to provide the most appropriate light control solutions
for any hotel property. We can outfit single guestrooms or entire resorts,
new construction or renovation.
It is often said that to survive, a hotel brand must do more than meet guest
expectations. It must exceed them. Imagine dif ferentiating from competitors
with cost-effective light control. You might think of the grandeur conjured
from balancing daylight with electric light in a cavernous lobby. Or perhaps
you see the ease with which conference attendees can adjust the lighting
with adaptive wall controls when a ballroom space is reconfigured. Maybe
its the virtually silent automated window shades keeping late-afternoon
guests comfortable in your flagship restaurant. Or, possibly, its knowing
that energy usage has been reduced substantially throughout the facility.
Whatever you envision, you know that behind the technology and the
experience is a company committed to supporting your business.

Anticipating your needs
Hotel construction is a collaborative effort. If an organisation is to be
successful in supporting hotel construction, it must understand the
needs of each unique stakeholder.
The brand corporationgenerates value by maintaining and leveraging
an identity. It needs a partner that can contribute to the consistency
of the brand experience.
The owner, developeror real estate investment trustrelies on
an efficient, streamlined construction process. It needs single-source
suppliers that deliver the best performance at a competitive cost
on time, on budget, and sure to work.
Operatingmanagementis chiefly concerned with keeping a hotel
efficient and profitable after construction. Operating managers need
systems that integrate seamlessly with each other and are simple
and cost-effective to maintain.
Architectsand construction managementare a nexus for the interests
at play during hotel construction or renovation. They need people they
can rely on for application and system knowledge, budget estimates,
performance evaluations, quality drawings and specifications.

the lobby
The Westbury Mayfair Hotel, London, UK
The lobby is your guests first interaction with the hotel. What do they see?
They see a social space, a space where they feel comfortable and want to
linger. And because the lighting is thoughtful ly integrated with the architecture,
they understand immediately where each of their needs can be met: the front
desk, the bell stand, the concierge, the lounge, the restaurants, the lifts.
But what they dont see might impress them even more.

Behind the scenes, a light control systemis creating the guest experience.
An intuitive switching station allows for flexible light
control of each area independently.
A daylight integration system is responding to the presence
of natural light within the space, gradually adjusting the
electric lights to save energy.
A reverse daylighting program matches the interior lighting
with the exterior lighting, so there is no perceptible change
in light when guests enter the space from the porte cochere.
Meanwhile, virtually silent, electronically controlled sheer shades
are reducing glare and protecting fabrics and furnishings from
UV rays without sacrificing the view.
And it is all happening automatically.

ballroomsBallrooms generate a large portion of a hotels revenue. They are pillars
of the facilitys financial health. But what ensures that meeting and event
planners routinely book ballrooms? Flexibility. And because ballrooms
are profit centres, they must be thoroughly efficient.

In ballrooms, light control is fl exibilityand effi ciency combined.
Efficiency
Light control brings substantially
increased operational efficiency.
A light control system reduces energy
usage significantly and extends lamp life.
When a ballroom is empty, occupancy
sensors sweep the space, turning off or
dimming the lights to eliminate energy waste.
Integrating time clocks with occupancy
sensing ensures that the occupancy sensors
are only engaged in the after-hours mode.
Flexibility
One group of downlights comes up in
a low-lit room for the best mans speech.
After a keynote address, when the partitions
roll out for breakout sessions, groups of lights
can be controlled individually in each new room.
When theatrical lighting is used for a major
event, the house lights integrate easily
into the control board.
Guests are empowered to have complete,
wireless control of the space, while staff
can make on-demand changes with intuitive,
back-of-house override controls.

meeting rooms
More than ever, the workplace is wherever we happen to be.
And when business guests happen to be at your hotel property,
meeting rooms supply a comfortable, flexible spaceequipped
with the technology they require.

Guests expect hotel technologyto match offi ce technology.
Flexibility
Guests use intuitive wall or tabletop controls to
call up preset lighting scenes appropriate for A/V
presentations, board meetings or videoconferencing.
Automated window treatments control sun glare,
keeping guests comfortable.
Light controls can integrate with the technology
in the room, allowing lights, shades, projectors
and video displays to operate together seamlessly.
Efficiency
When a meeting room is empty, occupancy
sensors give the space a late-night sweep
to control energy usage.

restaurants and bars
A great restaurant has an attentive, knowledgeable front-of-house staff.
It boasts a uniformly delicious menu. A great restaurants ambience
is romantic, or fun, or sophisticated, depending upon its ambitions.
And more than ever, great restaurants are in hotels, drawing guests
down out of their rooms and customers in off the street.

Whether a hotel operates its owneateries or hosts a national chain,it relies on the successful creationof a memorable dining experience.
The food looks its best beneath precisely controlled lighting.
Automatic presets set the mood, allowing the staff
to attend to customers without concerning themselves
with the ambience.
Perfectly even, silent window shades raise and lower
automatically in response to time and daylight, keeping
diners comfortable without interrupting their meal.
Lights around the bar, above the dining rooms
or private party rooms, in the kitchen, and at the
host stand are controlled separately and intuitively.
Altogether, the lighting is used to create a space
that customers can enjoy, one that they look
forward to returning to, again and again.Monacowall control

retail
A hotel experience isnt complete without shopping.
Whether a retail store is displaying a sleek evening gown, a sparkling
diamond necklace, or a popular book, lighting plays a key role.
The lighting should render colour perfectly. It should highlight texture.
It should present the merchandise in a context that inspires.

Light control in a retail setting frames thecustomers understanding of the space.
Adaptable light control keeps up with changing inventory.
Floorplans shift, new stock is added, and the store uses its
power to adjust lighting scenes quickly, simply and precisely,
so that products are always shown at their best.
Once the warm glow of a storefront window brings
a customer inside, the merchandise is the first thing
she sees. Certain products stand out.
On the floor, the customer sees brighter lights above the
checkout, and more ambient lights above the merchandise,
so she understands visually where she wants to go.
In a fitting room, the customer has the power to adjust
the light above her. She sees just how shell look at an
afternoon wedding or an evening cocktail party.
Altogether, light control gives the customer
a complete shopping experience.

the spa
All of us lead busier, more hectic lives, and no one knows that better
than your guests. Few spaces in a hotel represent the mission to create a
memorable experiencebetter than the spa. When a guest signs up for
a treatment, she expects the experience to be equal to her investment.

The spa creates a relaxing environment, providing guests an escape from their
hectic schedules.
In a spa, common areas can take advantage
of daylight with sheer-woven window shades that
diffuse the natural light throughout the space.
Treatment rooms can have intuitive controls that
set the lighting to exactly the right scene.
Guests can also have personal remote control
of the lights.
Product areas can use retail lighting strategies
to highlight merchandise.
When the last appointment has left, and the time
has come to set up for the next days experience,
the lights can all be brought full-on.
At the end of the day, occupancy sensors or a time
clock can turn them all off again, saving energy.

guestrooms
The guestroom is the centrepiece of the experience. It is a sanctuary for
the business traveler as well as a romantic escape for the couple on holiday.
In guestrooms, what once were amenities are now considered necessities
small details that make the space a home away from home.

Personal light control in the guestroom
is a cost-effective, understated luxury thattruly differentiates your guests experience.
When your guest opens the door to her room and presses
a Welcome wall control button, the space lights up to
create a warm and inviting scene.
Your guest controls window treatments with the touch of a button.
Touching Night Light slowly fades off the room lights while
a soft light comes on in the bathroom for safety and convenience.
Pressing All Off on a bedside control gradually fades
all the lights to darkness, reminding your guest of the
convenience and comfort of her stay.

residential spacesand condominiums
When a portion of a hotel property is developed to attract residents
seeking a pied--terre for one or two months at a time, or a year-round
home, it must offer in each space a level of technological sophistication
that is second to none.

Attracting potential buyers
to residential properties
puts the hotel in a stronger
position to secure fi nancing.
The design considerations present in the
guestrooms the colours and finishes of the
hardware, the style of the wall controls can
be kept consistent in the residences as well.
The operation of the light control system in the
residence is customised to fit the lifestyle of the
occupant. The presets and functionality can
all be personalised.
Automated window treatments protect fabrics
and furnishings from sun damage.
Light control is integrated with the other
systems in the space and can be controlled,
if need be, from the front desk.

specialty areas
There is no limit to what hotels can offer their guests: golf courses
and pro shops, landscapes, pools, casinos, convention centres.
Each new space gives you the opportunity to think about how you
would present your facility in its best light.

Imagine how Lutron dimming,
switching or automated control
strategies could enhance
these areas:
Casinos
An all-day, all-night dimming system provides just the
right light and saves a substantial amount of energy by
keeping the lights at 70 to 80 percent of their capacity.
Convention Centres
High-ceilinged convention centres rely on HID lighting
that requires highly flexible switching solutions that
increase the life expectancy of the lamps. They also
have meeting spaces within them that benefit from
customisable light control.
Back-of-House and Storage Spaces
Garages and Parking Spaces
Landscapes and Facades
Pools and Patios
Each of these spaces can be integrated into a single
switching solution that enhances safety and security
and carefully monitors and manages energy usage.
