Many believed that immigrants were anarchists (rebelled against any form of government) and communists = anti-immigrant feelings

• Sacco & Vanzetti Case - 2 anarchists on trial for robbery and murder. Many believed conviction was because of who they were.

Congress tightened immigration policies.• Quotas – were passed to favor

northern and western European immigrants• Ended all immigration from Japan• Limited immigrants from Mexico

• “Roaring” Twenties – refers to economy

• Consumers – (people who buy goods) wanted more things to buy.

• Mass Production – (making of large amounts of goods by machine) made this happen

• Assembly lines – (mass production steps) made it cheaper to make the goods

Henry Ford – assembly line – automobiles Ford Model T - $950 dropped to $300 Affordable to middle class People moved out of cities to suburbs

Advertising became common Radio (shows brought commercials into homes,

offices and stores). Ads sang the praises of multiple products.

Installment credit - some $ upfront and paid the rest over time with interest. In the end you pay more for the product
