Operational Summary• No missile attack into Kuwait yesterday• Coalition forces continue attack

– Forces operating in the vicinity of Baghdad– Iraqi forces fail in attempt to retake Euphrates

bridge– Operations within southern cities continue

Security Situation Update

• Rear Area Threat: – Iraqi surface to surface missile attacks still

possible, though short-range threat diminished

– Iraqi paramilitary activities north of Kuwaiti border

• NO GO Areas: Most of northern Kuwaiti border into Iraq

• KU and US military state traveling to Iraq entails risk– Close interaction with HOC prior to departure

is highly recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates

• Vehicle travelers should take security precautions– Stay on prepared roads

• US government announces additional contributions to support aid in Iraq– $200M for 340,000 pounds of food– $20M for other NGO operations supporting
