History Of Our School
LES, the first all-electric elementary school
in Kershaw County, was dedicated in August
1967.The original building, which was built
to house 600 students, had two classroom
buildings and an administration wing, which
housed administrative offices, the library,
cafetorium, and the health room. This facil-
ity was expanded in 1984 and presently
consists of an administrative wing, cafeteria,
multipurpose room and three classroom 994 Ridgeway Road

Programs
PEP : ( Pupil Enrichment Program): Afterschool pro-
gram at LES that assists students with homework.
LEEP: (Lugoff Elementary Enrichment Program): A six
week program of afterschool, extracurricular activities.
Arts Arising (Gr. 3-5): Summer program hosted at the
Fine Arts Center for students qualifying in the arts.
Boo Hoo Breakfast: A breakfast hosted by our PTO on
the first day of school for new parents to LES.
Peer PALS: A service learning partnership between
classes
Breakfast Club: An early morning, computer based pro-
gram to assist at-risk students in grades 1-5
Clubs: Interest based co-curricular learning opportunities
A-Team: An intervention using computer software to
meet each learner’s needs.
Variety Show (Gr. 4 - 5) Chorus (Gr. 4 - 5)
Safety Patrol (Gr. 4-5), Beta Club (Gr. 5), Lugoff Live
Hosts (Gr. 5) , Student Council (Gr. 5)
Students Working to Advance Technology (SWAT):
(Gr. 4 - 5) , Library Helpers (Gr. 5)
Terrific Kids: An award sponsored by the Kiwanis Club
to recognize positive behavior.
Too Good for Drugs, Too Good for Violence (K—5): A
consistent, sequential and comprehensive K—12 preven-
tion education program designed to teach kids that they
are too good for drugs and violence.
