What’s your attitude toward daydreaming?

“pipe dreams” “pie-in-the-sky” “spacing out” “musings”“spontaneous though” “imagination” “vision” “inner voice” “mind’s eye”

What is daydreaming?It is a short-term detachment from one’s immediate surroundings and substituted by a visionary fantasy.

Why do we daydream?

Daydreaming = Meditating

How do we daydream?When our mind is relaxed, that is when we tend to daydream.

You’re bored and don’t want to do the task in front of you. So, you daydream to preoccupy yourself.

Causes of daydreaming.• To escape reality.• To indulge one’s self.• To give us hope and help us get

through the rougher patches of life.

Effects of daydreaming.PROs:• It supports the process of creativity.• Helps plan for the future.• Allows learning from success and

failure.• Improves emotional regulation.

Effects of daydreaming.CONs:• Daydreaming may lead to accidents.• Daydreaming is counterproductive.• Maladaptive Daydreaming.

In a nutshell…• Daydreaming is more than wishful

thinking…• We are using the most complex region

of our brain…• We can envision…• The mind is completely uncensored…• We are able to free-associate…
