Welcome to the fall edition of Modern’s Quarterly Update! Let us start by wishing youand your company a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! No Price Changes: The United States Postal Servicehas officially announced that mailing and shipping priceswill not change in January 2015. This means that today’sprices on First-Class and Standard Mail Letters and Flatswill remain in place through early next year. Though noprice changes are targeted for January, the USPS may stillopt to implement regulatory or service changes at somepoint during the year in which the Postal Service willprovide customers advance notice of any price changes.

USPS Facility Closures: Over the past 2 years, theUSPS has begun closing Processing and DistributionFacilities across the Country, consolidating over 141 mailprocessing facilities. Recently they announced their plan toresume the consolidation of an additional 82 mailprocessing facilities beginning in January of 2015. It isbelieved that these closures will help establish the low-cost,technology-centric delivery platform necessary to serve themailing and shipping industry for decades to come. What does this mean to you? These closures are drasticallyaffecting delivery times across the country for both standardclass and first class mail but also postal discounts for standardclass mail that were once offered. For example, thosecustomers with a Postal Permit held at St. Pete and mail into

St. Pete, you receive a $.04 discount on your mail.However, over the course of 2015, the St. Pete facility willtotally be consolidated, which means if you want tocontinue to receive the $.04 discount, you will need tomove your Permit to Tampa which will be the new SCFdestination for St. Pete mail. It is essential for you to beaware if your Bulk Mailing Center is closing or beingconsolidated so that you can continue to achieve yourpostal discounts and also to ensure your mail gets in yourcustomer’s hands when you need it there! The list of facilities to be consolidated after January of 2015is available at http://usps.com/ourfuturenetwork. For anyadditional questions we recommend you contact mailingrequirements at 813-243-5938 and they can assist you.

USPS Service Alerts: Did you know on the USPSwebsite, they offer Service Alerts to consumers, smallbusinesses and business mailers about postal facilityservice disruptions due to weather-related and othernatural disasters or events? This is a Great tool to checkwhen planning big mailings across the country, so be sureto stay informed by logging into http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/welcome.htm and checking yourarea before your next mailing!

for standard mail… standard class mail gets handled afterall first class mail and it can take anywhere from 3 to up to10 business days, so be sure to plan ahead!
