The students are familiar with the legal framework for policing in the fields of police law, criminal law and civil law. They know the basics of general criminal law, the system of forensic science and basic proce-dures and tactics of solving cases of crime. In addition, they know the principles of traffic law. The students have knowledge of basic constitu-tional law and selected fundamental rights.

Teaching and Learning Objectives
The students learn the basics of traffic law, traffic management, forensic photography and forensic science, computer science, communication and case processing as well as professional ethics. They undergo train-ing in driving police cars and giving first aid. There are situational train-ings in which students are prepared for their work placements.

Exam / Performance Records There is an individual oral exam in which interdisciplinary knowledge is tested. Students also have to pass an examination and provide certificates in typing with ten fingers, using a portable radio, driving a police car and provide proof of participation in the first aid training, since these are requirements for a successful conclusion of the module.

Importance of Module Practical classes and further training sessions during the course of study are required for further mission-based classes. A great emphasis is placed on psychomotor skills. Systematic and individual training aims at having long-term and stable training effects.

Importance of Module The work placement, which starts after the mostly theoretical basic course, is the first possibility for the students to use their acquired knowledge and put it into practice. It is also necessary for the compre-hension of the upcoming modules during the course of study. The stu-dents use their practical experience throughout further theoretical tuition.
Main Contents of Module
The methodical competence gained during the basic course plays an im-portant role in the work placement.

Importance of Module During their practical police work, police officers are confronted with a wide range of different situations. Therefore, the officers are required to know how to deal with any situation in an adequate and legally correct manner.
This Module helps the students to prepare themselves for these situa-tions by teaching them the basics of the adjective and substantive crimi-nal law as well as the basics of police law and administrative law.

Importance of Module Traffic control, traffic accident recording and case handling are elements of the traffic safety work, which is done by the police. They, among oth-ers, are the core competences of policing. Road traffic safety constitutes one of the three pillars of our police-specific studies. The second pillar deals with issues regarding crime investigation and the third pillar is in regard to police operations.
