Half-Square 4-in-1 Triangle Ruler

Item#CGRBH1

Place two fabric squares right sides together. Position the solid black line (located near the bottom edge of the ruler) diagonally across the lighter fabric square. Position so that the line runs corner to corner.

1

Using a fine point fabric pen or a mechanical pencil, mark a line at the edge of the ruler and in the slot - these will be your sewing lines.

2

Stitch on the drawn lines, press to set the seams. Cut the space between the seams to yield two separate HST units.3

An alternate option is to place the bottom edge of the ruler diagonally corner to corner on the square. Draw a line along the edge of the ruler. Stitch 1/4" on either side of the drawn line, then cut on that drawn diagonal line to yield two separate HST units. Trim to the perfect size using Method 1 or Method 4.

4

Create Half Square Triangles (HST) four different ways using the same tool. Choose the method that works best for you or is featured in your pattern.

(Note: All ruler markings are finished size.)

METHOD 3- Easy 'Mark & Sew' 1/4" Seam Line

Gently finger press the seam open, followed by a light press - straight down - with an iron.5

TIP: For trim-to-size piecing, cut squares 1" larger than the desired finished size, then trim your oversized triangles to the exact size.

TIP: For most accurate results, angle the pen and draw as close to the edge as possible.
