Washington Street Physical Model

As a part of my experience at SOM, I was personally responsible for the digital modelling and 3D visualisations for both the Washington Street and the Folsom Projects in San Francisco. The Washington Street high end loft project is currently under the entitlement process.

Situated along one of the most rich sources of noise pollution, the premise of the building is to modulate the sounds of the site and design them into interesting configurations. The building provides the infrastructure to achieve a variety installation configurations and ideas. People are able to directly influence the modulation of the sound.

Sound is music that has not yet been encoded. To achieve a synthesis between online social music networks and physical space, I used materiality to change and alter and manipulate space.

This project investigates the sustainability of noise pollution. The site was chosen because it is the loudest area in Manhattan. These diagrams illustrate the intent to modulate and organize the noise into a series of rhythms.
