GoyaFrancisco de Goya y Lucientes was a Spanish painter and engraver. His

work includes themural and easel painting, printmaking and drawing. In all these facets developed a style

that opens Romanticism. Goya Art is also the beginning of contemporary painting, and is

considered a precursor of the avant-

garde painting of the twentieth century.

Saturn devouring a child

The painting Saturn devouring a child is one of the oil paintings on plaster that was part of the decoration of the walls of the house that Francisco de Goya in 1819 became known as the Quinta del Sordo and therefore belongs to the series of the Black Paintings.

Features: -The theme of Saturn is

associated with melancholy and destruction.-Chiaroscuro lighting extremely contrasted.-Uses a range of black and white, spot colors applied in thick, ocher and red carnations  for living flesh to the child.

The Sunshade The Sunshade  (1777) is a painting by Francisco de Goya in the

Museo del Prado and part of the series of cartoons.Features:-The color in this painting, like that of all the cartoons for tapestries, bright and vividcontrasting colors, as in the rest of the cards.-Genre scene within the village atmosphere.

The Milkmaid of Bordeaux

The Milkmaid of Bordeaux, is a neoclassical painting done during his exile in Bordeaux, France, a year before

his death.

Features:.-Light is a very important feature.-The movement is non-existent

and reveals his face an expression of melancholy.

-Stresses the free brushstrokes used by the author.

-Clear tones predominate, both gray and green.

- Belongs to the impressionist painting.
