Getting Started with Zoom – PC/Mac

To sign up for a PIR Zoom profile from any device:

1. Visit http://www.pirweb.org/en/sign-up and fill out the appropriate online form for you. (i.e. K-12 Educator)

2. You will receive a welcome email immediately at the address you provided.

3. Within 1-2 business days you will receive an email from no-reply@zoom.us with an invitation to activate your Zoom profile. Click the activation link and follow the prompts. (1-2 min)

4. If prompted with a “Don’t Zoom Alone” screen, Click “Skip This Step”.

5. Click “Go to My Account” to update your profile information and/or add a profile image.

6. Your Zoom profile is now active. Please install the Zoom software on your computer by following the steps in the next section.

To install Zoom software and adjust settings on your desktop/laptop computer:

1. Go to http://pirweb.zoom.us/download. Click the Download button under “Zoom Client for Meetings”. If prompted, click to “Allow” / “Run” / “Launch” the Zoom application.

2. Open Zoom from the Start menu (PC) or Applications folder (Mac) and click “Sign In”.

3. Enter your email address and the password you created when activating your profile. Check the box for “Remember me” and click “Sign In” / “Login”. (Do not use the buttons on the right for Google or Facebook)

4. Click the Settings button.

5. For PC/Windows, check and uncheck boxes as seen below for the Audio and General tabs. (Skip to step 6 for Mac/OSX.) Fields that are not circled can be altered at your discretion.

6. For Mac/OS X, check and uncheck the boxes circled below for the Audio and General: (Fields that are not circled can be altered at your discretion.)

7. The Zoom App is now installed and configured. Close the settings window.

8. To do a quick test call, proceed to the next section.

To test Zoom software on your desktop/laptop computer:

1. Go to http://pirweb.zoom.us/test to join a test meeting (this will automatically install the Zoom application if you have not done so already). If prompted, click to “Allow” / “Run” / “Launch” the Zoom application.

2. If prompted, enter your name and email address. Click “Join”.

3. Check the box next to “Automatically join audio by computer...” �

4. Click “Join Audio Conference by Computer”. �

5. When finished testing, click �“Leave Meeting” / “End Meeting” in the bottom right corner of the Zoom meeting window. �
