My Grandfather got married to my grandmother and had 8 boys and 5 girls.

My mother pull factor to cross the border was to live a better life.

My mom met my dad in Los Angeles and moved to San Fernando where they got married.

Franco Family

My parents have lived in San Fernando from 1982 – 2006.

My mom gave birth to my 3 younger brothers during that time period.

Our push factor from San Fernando to Fontana was because of the end of my dads career industry.

Questions

1. The most interesting thing I learned was that my grandma spoke Swedish, I never knew that before and also that she at one point was a hair dressed because that’s what I want to do.

2. Some interesting facts are that Grandpa Hartsell was in the Korean War and that my Gallardo grandparents lived in the same city when they were younger.

What are the common things about your story in the group?

The common thing about the stories in our group is that each one relates back to an ancestry that traveled to America. Looking at the big picture, none of us would be here today without the courage of our past family members.

Understanding about history/culture/geography?

Taking the time out to learn about the families history has given a sense of pride in who we are and where we come from. Having this understanding makes us more conscious and aware of cultures, especially the ones to which we are related.

How the group is connected to this class?

The group is connected to the class because we learn about the origin and geography of different cultures. Eventually, everyone ended up together and has their own story and background, but each adds a personal characteristic to the group.
