Genesis—Beginnings God Creates The World—Genesis 1:1-23
1. God is the __________ or __________ of all creation.
-In the Hebrew of this chapter the name for God is __________. -God brought the universe into existence by __________ (“and God said”). -When we are pleased with creation, our __________ should be directed to God, who made all things, and not to crea tion itself.
“Our praise to God is not first of all in the area of soteriology. If we are being fully scriptural, we do not praise him first because he saved us, but because he is there and has always been there. And we praise him because he willed all other things, including man, into existence.” Francis Schaeffer -We are part of that creation, have been made by God, and therefore owe him our total and unfeigned __________ and devotion.
“After the world had been created, man was placed in it as in a theatre, that he, beholding above him and beneath the wonderful works of God, might reverently adore their Author...all things were ordained for the use of man, that he, being under deeper obligation, might devote and dedicate himself entirely to obedi-ence towards God.” John Calvin
2. God’s creation was __________ and __________. 3. God pronounces His creation is __________.
“This is not a relative judgment, but a judgment of the holy God who has a character and whose character is the law of the uni-verse. His conclusion: Every step and every sphere of creation, and the whole thing put together—man himself and his total envi-ronment, the heavens and the earth—conforms to myself.” Francis Schaeffer
-We should be __________ for the world God has made and praise him for it. -We should __________ in creation. -We should demonstrate a __________ toward nature. -The Christian should turn once again to the God who made it and sustains it moment by moment and should learn to __________ him.
