VARIVENT® valves are operationally reliable, easy to maintain, CIP/SIP-capable that altogether are essential
factors for continuous product quality.
Low operational maintenance and service costs ensure economical plant productivity.
The VARIVENT® system is built up in a modular structure and therefore offers high application flexibility,
efficiency for the plant user, optimised stock inventory and favourably-priced spare parts and low parts
diversity.
Many valve types are EHEDG certified and meet 3A standard.
VARIVENT® valves are characterised by their special sealing technique. The metallic stop of the valve disk
is the core element for a defined deformation of the seal. With this technique a longer service life in the
process plant is reached - leading to shorter downtimes and continuous production.
. . . are used for simpleshut-off at flow path inter-sections within the pipesystem. One seal is used onthe one-part valve disk forshutting-off two pipesagainst each other. In caseof sealing failure, control-led leakage drain is notprovided.
. . . are used for convergingmedia from two pipes intoone pipe (W-Valve), or fordiverting media from onepipe on to two pipes (X-Valve). Always one seal is used onthe one-part valve disk inorder to shut-off the pipesfrom each other (upper –central or lower – central). If the seal fails, the mediain the pipes may intermix.

. . . are used for mixproofseparation of incompatiblemedia at flow path inter-sec-tions. In the closedposition of the valve (non-actuated position) alwaystwo seals are located bet-ween the two pipes. If oneof the seals fails, leakagemay directly drain to theopen via the therefore pro-vided leakage outlet of thevalve without intermixingwith the product being inthe second pipe.
. . . have a one-part valvedisk with a double seal. They are used for mixproofseparation of incompatiblemedia at flow path inter-sections within the pipesystem. Double seal valvesare the economical alterna-tive to the generally useddouble-seat valves. Thevalve`s isolation chamberis equipped with two rin-sing valves which are pro-vided for leakage detectionand cleaning of the isolati-on chamber itself. It is possible to clean the
isolation chamber both separately and during pipecleaning.
. . . are used for mixproofseparation of incompatiblemedia at flow path inter-sec-tions. In the closedposition of the valve (non-actuated position) alwaystwo seals are located bet-ween the two pipes. This valve type has a radialseat design. If one of the seals fails, lea-kage may directly drain tothe open via the thereforeprovided leakage outlet ofthe valve without inter-mixing with the productbeing in the second pipe. The valve is equipped witha balancer. The balancerprevents that the valve disk
is forced open in case of pressure hammers produced inthe pipe system.
. . .shows the same functi-ons as the mixproof valvetype D. In addition this valve isequipped with a balancer. The balancer prevents thatthe valve disk is forcedopen in case of pressurehammers produced in thepipe system.

. . . are used for mixproofshut-off at flow path inter-sections of two pipesystems. These valve haveno device for cleaning theisolation chamber. Theyare mainly used ascleaning and gas valves inCIP systems and gasblocks.
. . . are based on the VARIVENT® valve, type T. A special feature of thisvalve is that one of thevalve housings may bepushed out using a pig. This technique allows forthe recovery of high quali-ty products at the end of aprocess step and thus tominimise product residuesinside the pipe.
VARIVENT® mixproof valves type K . . . VARIVENT® mixproof shuttle valves type Y . . .. . . are used for divertingliquids in a pipe system,i.e. from one pipe on totwo pipes, with mixproofseparation between thecentral and the upper pipe. In the closed position ofthe valve (non-actuatedposi-tion) always two sealsare located between thetwo pipes (shut-off bet-ween central housing andupper housing). If one ofthe seals fails, leakage maydirectly drain to the openvia the therefore providedleakage outlet of the valvewithout inter-mixing withthe product being in thesecond pipe. For shut-off between the
central and the lower valve housing, only one seal is used. The VARIVENT® mixproof shuttle valve has been testedand approved by the Dairy Institut in Kiel, Germany.
. . . are used for mixproofshut-off between the tankand the pipe system. Theworking principle is com-parible to VARIVENT®
valve type R. The leakageoutlet is optimized for anupside down installation ofthe valve.

In the closed position the upper andthe lower valve housings are eachsealed by an independent valve disk
To open, the actuated lower valve disk(blue colour) is raised. The thrott linggap between the lower valve disk andthe seat ring minimises the switchingleakage that is drained pressureless tothe open through the valve stem. Afterwards, the isolation chamber bet-ween the upper double disk (green)and the lower valve disk is shut-off.
The upper double disk is entrained bythe actuated lower valve disk into thevalve´s open position. The valve isnow opened.

To open, the actuated lower valve disk(blue colour) is raised. The isolationchamber between the upper doubledisk (green) and the lower valve diskis shut-off, before the radial seal ofthe valve disk is leaving the seat ring;in this way switching leakage doesnot occur.

1. Amply sized multi-colour optical indicationhood on the top of theT.VIS® control moduleclearly indicates andvisible from all sides thevalve’s current status.
2. Splash-water proof con-trol module, connectedto the actuator withclamps is provided forthe protection of electro-nics.
3. Interactive feedback viathe integrated stroke travel measurement.
4. The whole controlmodule can be removedfor maintenance withoutdisconnecting the con-trol wiring or air line. Inthis way the allocationof the valve to themaster control systemremains unchanged.
5. A wide range of actua-tors is available to hand-le various process pres-sures and system airpressures. The actuatorfunction can be reversedon single seat valves.
6. The open lantern separa-tes the actuator from theproduct section of thevalve. It permits thevisual inspection of the
spindle seal and pre-vents possible heattransfer fom the valvebody to the actuator.
7. The machine rolledvalve spindle finish provides for excellentwiping action as it pas-ses through the seal andimproves the service lifeof the stem seal.
8. A variety of sealingmaterials is available tosatisfy food grade stan-dards.
9. Easy removal of productcontacted parts in onepiece from the top of thevalve.
10. The height of the pok-ket- free valve housingcorres-ponds to that ofthe connecting pipe, sothat smooth flow andfreedom from any deadspace are given, thussafely excluding oxidati-on damage and cleaningproblems.
11. The valve disks are, as amatter of principle, manufactured in a singlepiece.
12. The ball shaped valvehousing provides idealflow and CIP characteristics.
13. The valves can be sup-plied with butt-weldends or with removableconnections.
14. The metallic stop of thevalve disk achieves de -fined deformation of theseal, ensuring long seallife.
15. The special design of theseal groove in the valvedisk provides that theseal holds its locationagainst high flow veloci-ties and viscous liquids. The shape of the sealwas designed on thebasis of FEM.
16. A separate connection isused to supply the isola-tion with cleaningmedia.
17. The isolation chamber iscleaned via a radiallyacting spraying nozzlein the upper valve disk.

T.VIS®, the GEA Tuchenhagen Valve Information SystemGEA Tuchenhagen Feedback Systems M-1 and A-8 combine modern valve design with innovative technology. Theystand out by simple concepts for installation, operation and maintenance and thus facilitate operational processes. The T.VIS® series is the optimal solution for the constantly increasing demands made on control systems in modernproduction plants. The use of T.VIS® series helps the user reliably to lower operating costs.
T.VIS® shows clearly the valve status T.VIS® Feedback Systems (M-1 and A-8) are equipped with a large-sized optical round flashing indicator on the top of the T.VIS® con-trol module. Multicolour light emitting diodes show the user clearlyfrom afar the current state of the valve! Depending on the valve type, the following states can be signalled:- Non-actuated position (green)- Actuated position (yellow)- Seat lift activated (on mixproof valves )
(green/yellow slow flashing)- Request for maintenance (red flashing)- Error (red)- LEFF® function active (yellow/green quick flashing)
T.VIS® M-1 T.VIS® A-8
T.VIS® reacts with flexibilityThe modular structure allows in addition the two system variantsfor flexible equipment of the feedback system in order to fulfil indi-vidual requirements (e.g. type of interface modules, number of sole-noid valves etc.). Expansion and modification, e.g. the change frombinary data exchange to a bus system are easily achieved byexchange of single modules without the need of exchanging thecomplete feedback system.
T.VIS® is tailored to customers‘ requirements Multiple requirements made on components and control systemsdemand flexible feedback technology that responds to individualcustomers‘ requirements by tailored solutions. This is an ambitiousaim that T.VIS® Feedback Systems fully meet! The T.VIS® seriesintegrates two different systems for feedback of the valve position. The T.VIS® A-8 is a feedback system of the next generation withinnovative path measurement technology. The intelligent techniqueof this feedback system reduces not only the expenditure for instal-lation, operation and maintenance, but significantly lowers the ope-rating costs by use of the LEFF® Function!T.VIS® M-1 equipped with the proven sensor module combines alladvantages of this technology with the advantages of the T.VIS®
design. In this way the T.VIS® series responds to the different customers‘requirements and offers optimal solutions.

• The upper and lower valve housings are each fittedwith a valve seat for independent shut-off.
• Leakage of liquids from one pipe into the other issafely excluded.
• Any defects on valve disk seals are visible at the open leakage outlet.
• Should seal damage occur, the leaking fluid flowssafely to the atmosphere by gravity.
• Cleaning solution is supplied to the isolation chambervia a separate CIP connection.
• The cleaning solution is sprayed inside the isolationchamber that is located between the two valve disksthrough a ring nozzle, which remains pressure free atall times. The used solution drains safely to the openvia the outlet pipe.
• The isolation chamber can be cleaned independently ofthe valve position.
