FY 2007-08 Capital Budget Request

Office of Facilities Planning, Construction and ManagementNovember 6, 2006

CUNY is the nation’s largest urban university, comprised of 11 seniorcolleges, 6 community colleges, a graduate school, a graduate school of journalism, a law school, a school of professional studies, a school of biomedical education, and the William E. Macaulay Honors College. More than 223,000 students are enrolled in degree credit courses, and another 252,000 are enrolled in adult and continuing education courses at campuses located in all New York City boroughs.

The Capital Building Program (CBP) is designed to provided facilities required to support the University’s mission.

The CBP is developed by the Colleges and the Central Office withbroad participation of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

Infrastructure upgrades include:

• Central Plant Upgrades• Improvements to existing or installation of new chilled water loop

systems for central cooling capacity• Improvements to central heating capacity with new installation of

boilers and high temperature piping systems

• Heating / Ventilation / Air Conditioning (HVAC)• Replacement of outdated air systems including central distribution

equipment and window units• Central controls upgrades• Increased air supply / exhausting for lab fume hoods• Modify HVAC to avoid continued mold formation

• Electrical Distribution systems• Replace antiquated distribution equipment with high tension service• Increase capacity to meet current demand or provide for future

growth and energy waste
