Today, while celebrating the last Sunday of Advent prior
to the Feast of Christmas Day, we
can associate with the greatest joy
of the Blessed Virgin Mary who
awaited the coming of Baby Jesus
into the world. Anticipation and
preparedness are the watchwords
for this Sunday of Advent. THE HEDGEHOGS: It was the
coldest winter ever. Many animals
died because of the cold. The
hedgehogs, realizing the situation,
decided to group together to keep
warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but
the quills of each one wounded their closest companions. After
awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other
and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a
choice: either accept the quills of their companions or
disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to
being together. They learned to live with the little wounds
caused by the close relationship with their companions in order
to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they
were able to survive. The best relationship is not the one that
brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns
to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the
other person's good qualities.
PEACE OF MIND: Once Buddha was walking from one
town to another town with a few of his followers. This was in
the initial days. While they were travelling, they happened to
pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his
disciples, I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake
there. The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it,
he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water
and, right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing
through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy,
very turbid. The disciple thought, How can I give this muddy
water to Buddha to drink! So he came back and told Buddha,
The water in there is very muddy. I don t think it is fit to drink.
After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple
to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The
disciple obediently went back to the lake. This time he found
that the lake had absolutely clear water in it. The mud had
settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had. So he
collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.
Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the
disciple and said, See what you did to make the water clean.
You let it be ... and the mud settled down on its own and you
got clear water... Your mind is also like that. When it is
disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down
on its own. You don t have to put in any effort to calm it down.
It will happen. It is effortless. What did Buddha emphasize
here? He said, It is effortless. Having 'peace of mind' is not a
strenuous job; it is an effortless process. When there is peace
inside you, that peace permeates to the outside. It spreads
around you and in the environment, such that people around
start feeling that peace and grace. COFFEE SOCIAL TODAY : AFTER 8:30AM MASS
MASS INTENTIONS: Every Mass is a wonderful gift of God for us. We consciously recall the love of God poured out for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At each Mass all the intentions of all God’s people, both living and dead, are included. Since each Mass is of infinite value, requesting only several Masses is of tremendous benefit for the person prayed for as well as for the family knowing that their intention is joined with the prayer of the church. We are in shortage of mass intentions. Envelopes are placed at the entrance of the church. If you need a specific date please let us know at least one month in advance.

CHANGING OUR VISION: There was a very wealthy man who was
bothered by severe eye pain. He consulted many physicians and was
being treated by several. He did not stop consulting a galaxy of medical
experts; he consumed heavy loads of drugs and underwent hundreds of
injections. But the ache persisted with more vigour than before. At last,
a monk who was supposed to be an expert in treating such patients was
called for by the suffering man. The monk understood his problem and
said that for sometime he should concentrate only on green colours and
not to let his eyes fall on any other colours. It was a strange
prescription, but he was desperate and decided to try it. The millionaire
got together a group of painters and purchased barrels of green paint
and directed that every object his eye was likely to fall to be painted
green just as the monk had directed. When the monk came to visit him
after few days, the millionaire's servants ran with buckets of green paint
and poured it on him since he was in red dress, lest their master see any
other colour and his eye ache would come back. Hearing this, the monk
laughed and said "If only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles,
worth just a few dollars, you could have saved these walls and trees and
pots and all other articles and also could have saved a large share of his
fortune. You cannot paint the world green." Let us change our vision
and the world will appear accordingly. It is foolish to shape the world,
let us shape ourselves first.
THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK: One day I hopped in a
taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane
when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front
of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the
other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head
around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at
the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you
just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the
hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The
Law of the Garbage Truck'. He explained that many people are like
garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,
full of frustration, full of anger, and full of
disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need
a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on
you. Don't take it personally, just smile, wave, wish
them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage
and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on
the streets.

OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, as the Eucharistic family of St. Michael the Archangel , believe in the
life , death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We foster a
welcoming and active faith community by sharing our gifts of time, talent
and treasure. Following Jesus and guided by the

and living our faith. We continue to give witness to
our faith as we attempt to lead all souls to God’s
eternal kingdom in the Roman Catholic Tradition.
PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be
our protection against the wickedness and snares of
the devil. May God rebuke him , we humbly pray;
And do Thou the Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the
Divine Power of God, cast in to hell, Satan and all
the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
