You will be based at two main sites Royal London Hospital , Whitechapel Barts Hospital , Barbican
Both are undergoing major building work to become Britains biggest hospital
FY1/2 will be moving into new hospital at Royal London in early 2012!

Foundation Year 1 Rotations
Consists of 3 x 4 month rotations
List of rotations will be available at the BLT desk
Typical rotation is
Medicine/ Surgery/ Speciality (or more med)
Specialities include: Anaesthetics, Care of the Elderly, Psychiatry, renal, oncology, specialist endocrinology

Shadowing Programme / Induction
Weekly Teaching including practical skills
Simulation centre and mobile simulation training
Careers one to ones
Foundation Year 2 Rotations
Consists of 3 x 4 month rotations

A&E/ GP/ Speciality
Specialities include: Neurology, Renal, Stroke Medicine, Care
of the Elderly, O&G, Rheumatology/Dermatology, Psychiatry, Max Fac, Opthalmology, GUM, anaesthetics, cardiology, oncology

Life for junior doctors at BLT
Regular Mess events locally and in central london
Mess room in Royal london has sofas, tv, and vending machines
Most of the juniors (+seniors) can be found at the local pub after work!
Banding
Banding is subject to change and is being reviewed
However the general rule from this year: Medicine – 1A (50%) Surgery – 1B (40 %)
Remember you also get Full London weighting !
Accommodation
Both hospitals have excellent transport links so most people live privately near the hospital
There is hospital accommodation at both sites ranging from studio apartments to family accommodation. Pricing is available from the barts and the london trust website.
