Friends of the River Uncompahgre (FORU)

• formed summer 2006, in response to the fast pace of growth and the need to safeguard the river corridor.

• MISSION: Restore, enhance and protect the Uncompahgre River and its riparian corridor.

• To accomplish this mission, FORU is working to:• Create partnerships throughout Ouray, Montrose and Delta

counties• Enhance wildlife and fish habitat • Promote multiple recreational use • Develop a water quality improvement plan• Develop an Uncompahgre River Master Plan • Participate in the City and County Comprehensive Plans • Educate the community about the benefits of a healthy
