First of all, we worked on a Turkish folk character: Nasrettin Hodja.

Nasrettin Hodja is considered a Turkish populist philosopher and wise man, remembered for his funny stories and anecdotes. He is a well known character both by young and old people in Turkey.

NASRETTIN HODJA

As a wise man, Nasrettin Hodja always helped people to find the right path and stay away from evil. In doing this, he mainly used jokes. In many of these jokes he used ‘food’ items as symbols.

Our students searched for Nasrettin Hodja jokes related to ‘food’. And they shared these stories with their friends both in Turkish and English.

Tarifi Bende

Nasreddin hoca bir gün yolda yürürken canı pirzola çekmiş,

Kasaba gidip pirzola almış ama nasıl yapılacağını

bilmiyormuş.

-Eee ben bunu nasıl pişirecem daha yapmasını bilmiyom

demiş.

Adam tarifi yazıp vermiş hocaya. Hoca yolda giderken bir karga

pirzolayı elinden kapıp havaya yükselmiş.

Nasreddin hoca arkasında bağırmış:

-Karga bak bak tarifi bende. Demiş

They tried to depict the jokes by making flashcards.

They also tried to rewrite some of his funny stories in their own words along with a picture.

In cooperation with Science Department, we organised ‘Animals are Friends!’ Festival.

‘ANIMALS ARE FRIENDS’FESTIVAL

Our students brought their pets and displayed them in the sports hall. Each class visited the stands and had fun.

While doing all these, we get the major support from our principal as he is a real animal lover. Here are the animals that live in our school.

Along with the ‘Animals are Friends!’ Festival, we organised a charity bazaar in our school.

CHARITY BAZAAR

Our students brought home-made food belonging to different regions of Turkey. They decorated stands, sold the food items and donated the income to Animal Shelters and Tohum Otism Fund.

After this social responsibility project, we moved on with another questionnaire to raise our students’ awareness towards charity issues.
