Dear Parents/Carers
I can’t believe it is that time of year again where
we bid farewell to our P7s. What a wonderful
year they have had. There are so many
highlights. The many leadership responsibilities
they have. Their enthusiasm and motivation at
camp with such positive feedback from Mr Burt
and Miss Pow. The P7
cookery partnership with
Edinburgh College. They
simply blew us all away
with their delivery of a 3
course meal to all
parents. We plan to
continue this partnership
next session offering it
also to our new P6s.
From the success of this
I am now negotiating
with the college to see if
we can get students who are studying sport,
health and fitness to come and do placements
here. This is still at the very early stages and I
will need to see how it develops. The Junior Tour
Guide programme goes from strength to strength
and a highlight was when the community and
parents were invited to Rosslyn Chapel and also
the Stirling event were Eva Young, Eva Longwe
and Eilidh McLean represented Roslin. As you
know we are part of the Oor Wullie City Trail
which has just launched in Edinburgh. I hope
that many of you will be able to find our 2
sculptures. One is based at Edinburgh Citylink
Bus Station and the other in Ocean Terminal.
The arrival of our bus with Roslin Primary on it
created great excitement for us all! All of the
children have had busy productive years
extending their learning and finding out new
things. I am very proud of all the children at
Roslin for their
achievements this last
session. This comes about
through very good
learning and teaching and
positive partnership with
parents and all of the
community. I would like
to wish you all a lovely
summer holiday where you
can spend quality time
with your children and I
look forward to seeing all
the fresh faces in August – particularly our new
P1 cohort!

Kic Dance was a huge success with all the children—especially the P1s and P2s.
Badminton was a challenge for all but thoroughly enjoyable.
P7s putting P4s through their paces.
Warm ups!
Master Mason triumphed at the Roslin Sports Day. Led by House Captain, Bryce Gray, the children were delighted at their win following a very compet-itive set of events across the school.
Thank you to all who helped on the day, including the S3 students from Dalkeith High School.

SEIC The following link is a film produced by the
South East Improvement Collaborative
(SEIC) to promote the work of the group.
The SEIC covers the Borders, the Lothians,
Edinburgh and Fife. The purpose of the
SEIC is to encourage teachers to work
proactively and collaboratively to share
best practise and ideas and therefore
develop the best possible learning environ-
ment and opportunities for children. The
recently produced promotional film
features Roslin Primary 7 teacher, Mr Burt,
who was part of a collaborative workshop,
along with filming that was done within our
own Primary 7 classroom.

Internet Safety We had a very successful and well received Internet Safety talk for parents/carers on Tuesday 11th June. The presentation was given by our Digital Learning Development Officer, Colin McCabe, who covered topics such as:
Internet Safety; Keeping Personal Details Private; Parental Controls on PCs, Laptops and Elec-
tronic Devices.
We fully intend to have Colin in again next year to cover more topics and hope that you can join us.
In the meantime, please find link below to the presentation (also on our school website).

We were approached by Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity (Edinburgh Sick Kids) partners with the ARCHIE Foundation, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, Wild in art and DC Thomson Media to take part in the nationwide "Oor Wullie Bucket Trail" Challenge.
It is designed to be an opportunity to get children enthusiastic about arts and crafts, as well as engaging them in important topics of conversation like Scot's language, Health and Wellbeing and raising money to help support others. We have raised nearly £450 already for the ECH Charity with various activities in school.
Each pupil designed their own Oor Wullie on paper and Ava McDonald was our school winner with her "Oor Learning" - Growth Mindset design. Her design was recreated as a mini sculpture and will be part of the Edinburgh City Bucket Trail—https://www.oorwullie.com/the-trail/
Scottish Citylink Bus Company also invited us to take part in their partnership nationwide competition and the winning design was recreated in a mini sculpture to be placed in Edinburgh Bus Station AND the design
will take pride of place on the side of one of their coaches!
Eva Young won this fantastic competition with her "Oor World" - Flag design.
The bus even visited our school and was fantastic to see!
Our P7’s have had a fantastic year and have been a credit to our school.
We wish them all the very best for the future.
