● Canvas is the Learning Management Platform used by all CMS schools● Students are enrolled in classes for each of their subjects● Students will access online learning materials and submit assignments

Remote Learning Attendance Policy★ Students’ attendance will be taken daily.★ It is expected that all students show up

on time to each session. Students should remain logged in, with their video ON for the duration of the lesson.

★ Participation is expected and required.

Communication It is top priority that we build relationships with students and PARENTS! You are your child’s first teacher!

We will update you about your child’s performance in the following:

× Canvas (Grades and assignment feedback) × Powerschool (Grades and Attendance) × Email × Class dojo You can check to see if students are actively participating and

showing up at assigned times. We will make every effort to alert you about tests and quizzes coming up here as well as in canvas.

× Weekly Email You will receive a weekly email with updates and reminders about what is going on in fifth grade!

Remote Learning Expectations× Show up every day prepared and on time.× Wear appropriate clothing- avoid PJ’s × Stay in one quiet learning area.× Eliminate distractions such as pets, toys and outside

noises.× Treat the technology respectfully.× Keep the camera ON and the mic MUTED.× Do not use the chat feature unless you’re asked to do so.

Fifth Grade Behavior PlanWe will be using Class Dojo remotely and in person.

Students can earn (or lose) points based on the choices they make.

+Attendance, Respect, kindness, helping others, following directions, etc. (Parents can check attendance in PS and here)

-Calling out, tardiness, improper use of tech, disrespect, etc.

Students will “purchase” privileges with their Dojo points at the end of each month.

Long Creek Behavior PlanLong Creek students are Safe, Respectful & Responsible at school and online!

Students will be expected to uphold these behaviors during remote learning as well.

Caring Schools Curriculum × Research based social and emotional learning

program that builds community and social skills. × We will be using this during morning meeting to

help students become productive future leaders of America.

× Students will develop more enhanced skills such as responsibility, empathy, cooperation, and motivation.

ELAThis year we will use the EL curriculum which will have us focused on 3 main units of study. These units will ultimately guide us in learning the following skills

● Vocabulary in context ● Making inferences within a complex text ● Comparing and contrasting characters, settings, events in different texts ● Comparing and contrasting texts ● Developing an understanding of cause and effect relationships ● Point of view and how viewpoints differ ● The author’s purpose for writing, developing, and choosing to write a text● Finding multiple main ideas within a text ● Summarizing and finding theme in a text● Becoming stronger readers with more stamina

Math Through the use of our EnVision curriculum students will learn many important concepts including:

× Place Value Operations and developing a deeper understanding of place value

× Decimals to the thousandth place× Multiplication/division of multi digit numbers× Fractions: Operations with fractions (including complex word
