Embryonic Membranes

• Amnion – Epiblast cells form a transparent membrane filled with amniotic fluid– Provides a buoyant environment that protects the

embryo– Helps maintain a constant homeostatic

temperature– Amniotic fluid comes from maternal blood, and

later, fetal urine
