Family Promise of Sussex County is excited to welcome Derek Pivko to the Board of Trustees. Derek Pivko, a life-long Sussex County resident, brings a pedigree of experience in the non-profit business world having worked for Pass It Along and Family Partners of Morris & Sussex Counties, as well as a vast background in Aquatic Management. Derek Pivko graduated with an Associates of Arts in Communication from Sussex County Community College. Upon graduating from SCCC, Derek enrolled at University of Arizona, specializing in Interdisciplinary Studies before graduating from Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Derek Pivko is currently employed as the Water Front Director at Lake Mohawk Country Club (LMCC). Other duties include Marine Patrol Liaison, Houseman and Snow Removal, all while volunteering on several committees at LMCC. Last year, Derek Pivko competed in 23 different races in six different states. Races ranged from Open Water Swim Races, 5k Races, and numerous Obstacle Course Races. This year, however, Derek does not anticipate surpassing last year’s race total. Instead, he looks forward to returning to Newton to serve on the Board of Trustees at Family Promise of Sussex County.

The Spring in Bloom Ball included live entertainment, silent and live auctions, wine pull station, candy and cupcake bars, special treats and much more…
Family Promise of Sussex County has the privilege to honor a guest speaker at our Spring Ball. Stephanie (not her real name), shared her touching story of homelessness and captivated the hearts of many. As a mother of a teenage son, forced to sleep in her car for months, with no support from family members, it became the toughest moments in her life. Concerned for her safety and family wellbeing, she reached out to Family Promise of Success County. At the agency, she found the help and resources necessary to rebuild her life. Today, she is employed full time and accepted into Lincoln Technical and Sussex County College. Stephanie will pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse. Congratulations! You are an inspiration for all of us!
