Definitions
• Expressions: A variable or combination of variables, numbers, &symbols that represents a mathematical relationship.
• Equations: A statement that two mathematical expressions are equal.
• Inequality: A mathematical sentence that compares two unequal expressions using: greater than , less than etc.
Examples

Questions??? Cindy is 6 years older
than Phil. In two years the sum of their ages will be 30. How old is Cindy?
C=Cindy & P=Phil
C=6+P(C+2)+(P+2)=30
(6+P+2)+(P+2)=302P+10=302P=20P=10
C=6+10C=16Cindy is 16 & Phil is 10.
Check: (16+2) + (10+2) = 30
