Expectorant

1-Composition : Each 100 ml. contains:

Promethazine Hydrochloride 20 mg.

Sodium Benzoate 1 gm.

Ammonium Chloride 2 gm.

Liquid Extract Senega 2 ml.

2-Properties: - Promethazine Hydrochloride is a phenothiazine derivative.

It has a prolonged antihistaminic action, it is H1 Receptor antagonist

It diminishes the action of histamine by occupying the receptor site in the effector cells to the exclusion of histamine.

It does not prevent the production of histamine.

- Sodium benzoate : liquifies the tenacious sputum.

- Ammonium chloride and Senega , have an expectorant effect.3-Indications & usage: - Common cold.

- Influenza.

- Bronchitis.

- Pneumonia ( at the resolving stage ) 3-Dosage & Administration: Children : 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.

Adults : 1 tablespoonful 3 times daily.
