Everything Grows

We’re sad to say goodbye, but we have so many fond memories of this year, Mrs. Savarese’s final year as a teacher at Edgewood School. She’s a special educator — one in a million! — and we wanted to remember just how special with an illus-trated book about the chil-dren planting the Edgewood garden. Laura Bower wrote the lovely poem that follows. Arberie Hetemi took the wonderful photographs. And Mrs. Savarese taught our children well. All of them are off to an amazing start.

IN OUR GARDEN

4

The year has flown by, how much we have grown. We’ve learned to spread our wings, fly on our own. We’ve mastered our letters - our A, B & C’s.

5

We’ve learned how to count & to write with great ease. We’ve planted a garden right here at our school. Give the crops love: the number one rule.

We found the perfect spot for the lettuce & peas with plenty of sunshine and shade from the trees. We watered the soil, pulled weed by weed. Happy to help out with this natural good deed.

We’ve watched all the crops grow tall over time,

radishes, lettuce, peas - all in a line.

We harvested our bounty, picked crops from the ground.

There is a beauty in our garden swirling all around.

We washed the veggies in buckets of red, green & blue, and polished them up: made them shiny and new. We cared for the animals just passing through, from the bunnies that hopped to the birdies that flew.

“Everything grows” - our theme for the school year, with Ms. Savarese - our captain - helping us steer. We are bigger and stronger - we learned a ton. Our minds have stretched like the crops towards the sun. As we grow through Edgewood, we’ll never be apart, Linked by our Kinder”garden” - a piece of our

heart.
