Every 2.5 days a woman or girl is killed in Canada, and many are suffering in silence. Speak out against abuse and you could save a life. Will you break the silence?

Here are some common abusive behaviours you can look out for:

HE FOLLOWS HER ONLINE.

He often comments on her social media posts or the content

she comments on. In some cases, he may not let her use

the internet or have her own social media account.

This control is a form of abuse.

HE ISOLATES HER.

He keeps her away from her friends, family and loved ones.

He may tell her who she can and cannot trust in order to keep

her alone.

Isolation is a form of abuse.

HE TAKES AWAY HER VOICE.

He does most of the talking, and when someone asks her a

question, he responds or interrupts her if she tries to answer.

Silencing her is a form of abuse.

HE IS MOODY.

He can be happy one minute, then angry the next minute.

He also gets very angry over little things, like a cup of

water spilling accidentally.

This type of anger is a form of abuse.
