PRINCIPAL TALK
Musical Chairs
Today is the first day of my leave for the next 5 school weeks (spanning the holidays). In my time away, Ms Wendy Moss will ably lead the school. Miss Mikaela Vermeulen will be Instructional Leader, Mrs Fia Lyle will be AP Infants, and Mrs Mel Smith will be on 1V. For the remainder of this term, Mrs Rechelle Glasson will be AP Wellbeing, and Miss Kellie Dooner will be on K/6R.
Parent Survey
We’d love to know what you think the school is doing well and where we can improve. Until Friday 25th October, parents have the opportunity to share their opinions about the school. Please take the time to participate so that we can use your feedback to evaluate our performance, and make improvements. It will take about 15 minutes, and can be completed on a mobile device. Thanks.

Last Day of Term
On Friday 27th Sept, K-2 will be having their Sports Carnival here on the school grounds. The P&C will be offering a special menu on the day including a BBQ sausage sandwich. And to supplement this, Year 6 students are offering Spiders (the drink kind) for a good price to help raise money for their gift to the school at the end of the year.
Mr Jonathan Ridgway
Infants Athletics Carnival
On Friday the 27th September, all students in Infants will be participating in an Infants Athletics Carnival in the school. All students from K-2 will assemble on the school oval at 11.30am and will participate in scheduled activities until approximately 1.25pm. Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who have returned the note to school. We appreciate you volunteering your time. On the day,
students will need to wear a school hat and they are to wear either house colours or sports uniform with comfortable joggers. Students will be reminded of their house colour prior to the carnival. If you wish to take them home at the conclusion of the carnival you will need ensure you sign them out with their classroom teacher.

Last Week’s Quiz
Write 21 in Roman numerals. XXI
Congratulations go to Jack B, Corey B, Alex S, Noah A and Levi L.
The challenging quiz from the week before!
Write a spelling rule, and then give an example of a word that abides by the rule, and another word that breaks it! One example is ‘I’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’ . Abides by the rule - shriek , breaks it - neighbour.
This challenge was too great! With an extra week given we have 2 students who submitted correct entries. Congratulations goes to Jasmin M and Indi R who will receive a double prize.
Children’s University
Final date to submit student learning hours is Wednesday 25th September. Students will need to see Miss Cox to do this.
A note will be sent home with details about our graduation to successful students after this date.
Beresfield PS graduation date is Thursday 31st October. This is a free event and a bus will be provided for students and family members to attend the ceremony that will be held in the Great Hall at Newcastle University.
Attendance
Students have been engaging in conversations with their class teachers and at school assemblies about the importance of attending school EVERYDAY.
A new addition to our newsletter is to report on our attendance percentage each month by students, teachers and parents working together to minimise school absences and therefore increase student academic achievement.
At Beresfield Public School we are committed to zero tolerance of bullying and harassment in our school community and see the support of families as integral to this goal.
This Week’s Quiz
A tablet could be two different objects. Describe them.
Write your name and class with the answer on a piece of paper, and post it into the Quiz Box near the principal’s office by Thursday morning.
This week’s focus is: Safe Hands, Safe Feet
When I have safe hands and safe feet:
I have a calm body
I keep my hands and feet in my own space
I keep my own space
Congratulations to Anthony M, Ryder, Walter S, Bree & Eli our weekly focus winners who had their names drawn out of the box.
