EOM (Enterprise Output Manager)
The EOM (Enterprise Output Manager, formerly known as DEPCON) software is a comprehensive output-management solution for mixed-platform networks. Running on a Windows operating system, the primary function of the Output Manager software is to automatically process and route print files and other application output files from any supported platform to any supported output destination.
In addition to printing, Output Manager lets you take advantage of a variety of delivery mechanisms, such as e-mail SMTP/IMAP, Web, HTTP, FTP, CD/DVD, and fax. With each of these delivery methods, Output Manager can reformat text documents and data into a customized, modern appearance such as PDF files.
What Is EOM?

Enterprise Output Manager Release 9.0 includes the following new features and changes:
• Data Dependent Attribute (DDA) Charting feature
The ability to generate charts is added to the Enterprise Output Manager’s DDA feature and is available for any output generated by a Print Job using the Windows Driver. The following two new DDA commands are added:
– Data Table – to define the Chart Data
– Draw Chart – to select the Chart template and draw the Chart
• Based on MS .NET Chart Control
EOM Release 9.0

The following key features are supported:
‒ 35 distinct chart types, including the common Area,
Bar, Column, Line, Pie, and Point chart types.
‒ 3D support for most Chart types.
‒ Support for multiple Chart areas in one Chart.
This feature comes along with the Chart Designer,
which is an independent menu driven executable. It is
used to develop, customize, and save various types
of chart templates.

• Secure file transfer
This feature provides the ability to perform encrypted (signed) data
transfer using Raw TCP, LPR/LPD, and Output Manager protocols.
A separate Certificate Signing Request (CSR) tool is provided to
generate CSR messages which is a public key used to obtain Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA).
• Transfer jobs using LPR/LPD protocol
The transfer job functionality is enhanced using the LPR/LPD protocol to
send customized data to the destination printer. You can now specify
Job name, Job Classification, User Identification, and LPR Print
Command as per RFC 1179 to perform a transfer job using LPR/LPD
protocol.
EOM Release 9.0 (cont’d)
9
• Stage output files in a temporary folder
In Print Job, while printing to a file, Output files can be created or staged
in a temporary folder. Users can select the temporary folder to create or
stage an output file before moving the file to the destination output
folder.
• Scale metafile to page size
This feature provides an option to automatically scale Metafile to page
size and ignore the margins defined on the Hardware tab of the Print
Attribute. This feature eliminates the need for using a DDA to place the
print stream data there by making it a lot easier for the users to use
Metafile forms. Must be set in Print Attribute to use DDA Execute
Command File instead of Position Graphic
EOM Release 9.0 (cont’d)
10
• Extend usage of Directory Alias
Directory Alias can now be used for the following:
– Backup directory in Backup attributes
– Application to start property in Custom Job Attributes
– Directory Path property in Directory Monitors
• Directory Monitor enhancements
The Directory Monitor feature can now perform the following:
– Identify and process zero length files
– Monitor multiple user-defined file types (*.txt, *.pdf, and so on)
instead of monitoring all files.
EOM Release 9.0 (cont’d)
11
• Logging enhancements
The logging feature is enhanced to perform the following:
– Log the change in paper type. You can now view the log details if you
change paper type of printer using the Output Manager print control
or using Change Printer Paper Type.
– Log the unique File Name. You can now view the log details if you
transfer files using FTP method as Upload file with a unique file
name.
– Log the restore file details in Backup File management. You can now
view the log details if you restore file using Backup File Management
window.
EOM Release 9.0 (cont’d)
12
• Expand the use of Print Attribute’s Output file naming rule
This feature allows the Output file naming rule of the Print Attribute to be
used for Custom printers. Print jobs that print to Custom printers can
now specify the name and location of the generated output file. This
allows a more meaningful file name to be created and can eliminate
subsequent renaming operations in a document workflow.
• Copy File Properties and Export File/Job Management Window
This feature includes the following enhancements:
– Ability to copy all or selected fields and their values in the File
Properties form to the Clipboard, or to either export or write the field
or values to a selected file as text.
– Ability to export or write the displayed file and job fields in the file and
job management windows to a selected file as text.
EOM Release 9.0 (cont’d)
13
• 64-bit Native Support
This feature offers the ability to run Enterprise Output Manager natively
on 64-bit operating systems. Depending on the Windows operating
system supported platform, a 32-bit or a 64-bit Enterprise Output
Manager is installed or upgraded. This feature helps eliminate memory-
related exceptions as the 64-bit architecture provides processes with
expanded address/memory space. Also, the issues caused by printing
from 32-bit applications on a 64-bit operating system are eliminated.
• New Barcodes
Enterprise Output Manager now supports Aztec, GS1, and QR Barcodes
which are widely used in different areas. The PrintBarcode DDA
command is enhanced to give more control over the barcode’s height
and width (for linear barcodes).
EOM Release 9.1
14
• User Keyword
This feature enables you to define user keywords in the File Mask. A
user keyword value set in one of the File Masks can be changed by the
File Mask of its child. A new DDA command “Set UserKeyword” has
been added that enables you to reset the value of the user keyword that
was set in the File Mask. This offers greater flexibility in defining
keywords and redefining them if needed.
• Print Attribute – Destination Naming Rule
This feature enables the user to specify a destination value in the Print
Attribute. Print jobs configured to print using TCP/IP printers can now
specify the name of the remote printer or the target print queue name in
Print Attribute. It helps in simplifying the configuration by minimizing the
number of TCP/IP printer/Transfer Attribute configurations.
EOM Release 9.1 (cont’d)
15
• Support for Burroughs Payment System Printers
This feature provides support for the new Burroughs
printer drivers. The following print drivers are represented
in the Print Attributes – Printer driver property:
– BMS55
– BMS65
– BMS75
– BMS85
– BMS95
– BMS105
