Home School and School of Life…

HOMESCHOOL• What were some of the things you liked

best about home schooling this year?• What were some things that were hard for

you?• What goals did you set for yourself in

reading and writing? Did you meet these goals? How do you know?

• What did you like best about Math? Science? Social Studies? Health/PhysEd?

• What do you feel was your greatest accomplishment this year? What are you most proud of?

SCHOOL OF LIFE• What are some of the things you were

worried about this year?• What were some things that were hard for

you?• What were some of the things you most

enjoyed?• What did you learn about yourself this year?• What did you learn about the world?• How has spending this year in a different

country helped you to grow as a person?

Blog Post…• Choose ONE of the preceding slides (“Home

School” or “School of Life”)• Write 1-3 paragraph summarizing your

discussions• Add a short introductory paragraph or

sentence at the beginning• Conclude with a strong summary statement• Give your blog post a title that synthesizes

your ideas• Does your blog post give readers a sense

of what you’ve experienced and felt?

Talk About It• Choose ONE of the preceding slides (“Home

School” or “School of Life”) – Pick the one you didn’t write about in your blog post.

• Think back to our discussion… what were some of the important points you made?

• Using a confident voice, tell about one thing you want to share with others. Keep it short and to the point.

• Mommy will video tape you talking, and we’ll post it on your blog (think of a catchy title that will make people want to watch the video)

• How do you think people who see your video will respond?

PLANNING FOR SUCCESSThinking Ahead…

• What are you hoping to get from our “Arts month” in April? What are you looking forward to? Is there anything you are nervous or worried about?

• What personal goals do you have for music and dance and photography/art?

• What are some things you will want to write/blog about over the next few weeks? What text form(s) might you use when writing about these topics?

• What do you hope to finish reading before the end of our trip?

• What is one skill you want to consolidate in Math before the end April? What steps will you take to achieve this goal?

• Do you have any other personal projects you hope to complete or goals you want to accomplish during your “free time” over the next four weeks? (EE presentations, video games/new levels, improve Spanish, etc?)

THINKING AHEAD…

RICH MENTOR TEXTSThinking Back…

Look at our Rich Text Wall…

• What were some lessons we learned from the books we read together?

• Which was your favourite book from our rich text wall? Why?

ARTS MONTHHome School Revised…

Tell About Our Arts Month…• What did you most enjoy about this month?• What was hard for you?• What connections can you make between what you

have learned this month, and what we have learned during the rest of the year?

• What was your greatest accomplishment?• What do you hope to learn more about in the

future?• What connections can you make between what you

have learned this month, and what we have learned during the rest of the year?

• How have your experiences with singing, piano, dance and photography/the arts changed you? What skills have you learned this month that will help you in other parts of your life?

LOOKING AHEADThink, dialogue/discuss, then blog…

Thinking ahead to our return to Canada, write a little about your feelings…• What are you most looking forward to?• What are some things you are anxious about?• How are you feeling about returning to your

class at John English for the last few weeks of the school year? How can Mommy, Daddy and Tats help you with this transition? What can Mr. S. do to help?

• What are some things you are looking forward to in the summer?

• If you could tell people at home only ONE thing about your year in Argentina, what would it be?
