2009 Advocacy CampaignIn 2008, APICS launched an advocacy campaign to bring visibility to the value of APICS-educated operations and supply chain management professionals in a difficult economy. The objective of the campaign is to

– Demonstrate to employers, the media, and the marketplace that trained operations and supply chain managers are integral to the success, and sometimes the very survival, of a business

– Communicate to APICS members that APICS relates to their situation and will help them navigate this recession.

APICS Member Advocacy

The advocacy campaign includes these components:

– Introduction of new e-newsletters for members and executives that cover the media and government reports and put them in context for the profession.

– Increased communications about relevant member benefits, such as extended unemployment benefits and Career Center job postings.

– Enhanced APICS magazine editorial coverage of the economy

– Continued distribution of economy related APICS content to employers.

– Development of a public relations plan and media calendar.
