A report about an alternative power source by Zack

What is wave power? Scientists are experimenting with generators to

harness wave power. You can generate waves by harnessing them. Waves are caused by wind blowing across the sea for a long time.

Where is this type of power generated in New Zealand?

New Zealand is trialling in Lyttelton Harbour near Christchurch and Evans Bay, Wellington. At present they are hoping to give power to islands and large cities.

How does this power generator work? You could draw a diagram.

Wave power turbines are not like other turbines, they have to cope with lots of different directions of waves so they are mostly moored to the bottom of the ocean.

Could we use this type of power at school? We are only one hour from the sea, we could

use wave power if it was used on the coasts. It could be a future idea.

Conclusion i.e. why you think this power could be used at school to run our heater.

New Zealand is a good place to make wave power. No-one is far from the sea. However wave power is only being tested right now.
