• The vision for the future

A Timeline

Joseph Oyuki introduces us to David Kaya

As an EvangeCube Trainer

Nathan Sheets leads the first e3 team to Yei.

• God calls Mike to Sudan while in Rwanda

• We take an exploratory trip to Rumbek.

We apply the e3 “model”

• Normally, the model produces growth like the chart below—normally …

• Find and equip trainers ... and grow

We pursue the model through Leadership Development Conferences

We have some success with this model, which remains our core mission.

• But!

• God impresses on our hearts a passage from James

A missionary suggests we work with the unreached Toposa in Kapoeta.A missionary suggests we work with the unreached Toposa in Kapoeta.

On the way, we stop in Lietnom, exploring a potential partnership.

All this time, we have been assessing, learning, asking God to teach us and guide us

A very big light came on for us.

What Sudan lacks most ...

is leaders

The model lacks reproducibility without leaders

The war took the leaders

We find boys/young men with a heart to serve

Or leaders with compromised integrity

Both require extensive training and discipleship

Both require extensive training and discipleship

This man does not

have integrity issues!

We continued to explore and learn.

The February 2007 trip:

• Kapoeta

• Chukudum

• Kajo Kejo

• Rumbek

• Akot

Our assessment on this trip confirmed three more learnings:

Let’s Review• The traditional e3 model only works in a

minority of places in Sudan.

• The physical needs are overwhelming and demand a response.

• There is a dearth of leaders

• There’s poor infrastructure to move and communicate.

• The UN and NGOs have driven up the costs of everything.

This is not an option

God specializes in long odds

Our response to the most pressing issue: Leaders

Start a Bible School. Build Leaders from scratch.

Our gestation period slows

Train them theologically with Bible Training Center for Pastor’s (BTCP) Material

And with skills

Carpentry

Over 50 students have begun the Bible School to date

It takes them two years to complete the program

• 3 months of classes and practicum

• 3 months of on the field application at home

While we invest in the school for long-term leaders, we still apply the model

And we still work leveraging opportunities

Thank You

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will

enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your

generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
