• Only one user at a time can use the e-book
• 133 users have been rejected on 22 titles (October 2002-April 2003)
• Business model – problematic?

• One half of the consortium titles have been used(Cct.-Apr. 2003)
- 79 of them have been purchased by LASB- 25 most used have been purchased by LASB
• Is the LASB selection relevant?
Used between 55-50 times: 1 titleUsed between 49-40 times: 1 titleUsed between 39-30 times: 3 titlesUsed between 29-20 times: 5 titlesUsed between 19-10 times : 11 titlesUsed between 9-5 times: 31 titlesUsed between 4-2 times: 34 titlesUsed only once: 26 titles

Final Evaluation will include
• Statistical investigation of the amount of books used• A web-based questionnaire investigation amongst the
target group• A ”think-loud test” of the users – indentify the types of problems• Focus group discussions – solutions, proposals for improvements
- researchers, teachers- students

The Future for e-books in LASB (1)
Two strong barriers have been removed – Autumn 2002
• LDAP – access to e-books/e-resoures from outside campus
• CampusNet – ASB´s interactive web-based communication for students and staff.
- information sharing tools- personal information- course materials – digital library

• Business concept: Ebrary model• Extent: < 5 years – about 50% of the budget for
aquisition of material• Influence on processes etc.:
- ILL- Cataloguing/acquisition- Maintenance of holdings- The physical library/room
• Use:- Supplementary- Reference books- Course material- Doublings
