Insights to Drive Change at a Creative

Agency6

So, your creative agency is growing.

Perhaps it’s time to come up with a more structured way of managing the work and running the company.

You’ve started looking into project management software options and you’ve come across a solution that seems promising.

Your team, however, doesn’t seem very keen on it.

What should you do?

We’ll be looking into how you can address the challenges that may arise with change.

But first things first…

My name is Cheryl Chung. I am a self-proclaimed nerd that loves sticky notes, fantasy novels & board games. Oh, and don’t forget the rainbows & unicorns.

Hi!

Now back to business

Change happens with Congruence1

Teammates must feel in balance to be able to look at things with empathy. We often feel vulnerable when we’re pushed out of balance.

Talk to people before making decisions. And when you’re having discussions, focus on the issues with the process, not on the individuals, to analyze issues objectively.

Honor What’s Valuable from the Past2

A team’s processes may not have caught up to new situations, causing issues.

So in your team’s discussion, fondly remember the past, and the things that got the team to where it is now, before envisioning plans for the future.

Seek to Understand the System Together3

Recalling the desire must come from within.

Help your team understand the big picture with a diagram. They’ll be able to see the current situation and play with different ideas.

Find the Connectors & Influencers4

Understand the team dynamics and

relationships within the social network.

Find a way to highlight key

influencers within the network, allowing them to see the

challenge as something worth

tackling.

Guide the Change5

Create a list with all the values that were extracted through the 4 previous exercises.

Then categorize them into 5 separate groups created using criteria that make sense to you

and your team.

Define them with a single word or short expression (eg. respect with integrity, own and

lead)

Small Forays are Better6

Create an environment where people feel

comfortable to try new things.

Show your team how small contributions

makes a difference in the company’s success.
