FIRE in FEBRUARY...This 28 day thrust is intended to involve the entire populace of Detroit Lakes in reading through the Book of Acts, one chapter per day. We encourage all in our congregation to not only participate personally (a commitment of about five minutes per day), but also to actively encourage others – extended family, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, etc. – to join in as well. And as we corporately glorify God in this manner we can expect significant and positive changes in D. L. and beyond.

NOTES FROM MONSIGNOR TIM:
THIS IS CATHOLIC SCHOOL’S WEEK across our country and here at home. This year’s theme is Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed. And over the years they have done exactly that! We are pleased to have the students participating in the ministries at today’s 9:00 A.M. Mass. Please see the enclosed information in today’s Parish Bulletin about the happenings and events of Catholic School’s week here at Holy Rosary!
TODAY AT THE 11:00 A.M. MASS we will celebrate the RCIA Combined Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens and the Rite of Welcoming Baptized but Previously Uncatechized Adults Who Are Preparing For Confirmation and/or Eucharist or Reception Into Full Communion of the Catholic Church. The following individuals have chosen to make the RCIA journey this year: Thomas Cheatham, Doug Froke, Haley Groth, Faith Haaland, Mark Heffern, Del Jasken, Nick Noia, Jade Olson, Mary Jo Peppel and Derrek Puttbrese. Please warmly welcome them into our community and pray for them, their sponsors and the RCIA Team as they continue their faith journey!
STATEMENTS OF SACRIFICIAL GIVING FOR 2017: Statements of Sacrificial Giving will be mailed home to our parishioners beginning this week. Please check your over and if you have a question please call the Parish Office for clarification.
BLESSING OF THROATS: Next Saturday is the feast of St. Blaise who we associate with the healing of throats. Because it falls on Saturday that is close to the Sunday celebration of Eucharist and because there will be large numbers of people at each of the weekend Masses we will give the traditional blessing of St. Blaise at the conclusion of each of the Masses.
SUPER BOWL PARTY: Next Sunday the Knights of Columbus, along with other businesses and individuals will host a Super Bowl, non-alcoholic family party beginning at 4:30 P.M. in Sts Benedict and Scholastica Meeting rooms and the gymnasium. Please note more specific information on the inside of today’s Parish Bulletin. You may RSVP Jon Stone at 218-234-1434.
THE PARISH EXTENDS ITS SYMPATHY to the family of THOMAS HOCKMAN, whose Mass of Remembrance will be on Friday at 1:30 P.M. at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home and to the family of Donna Lee Conlon, whose funeral was last Wednesday here in Detroit Lakes. We also wish to extend sympathy to the sisters of Mount St. Benedict Monastery and families of SISTER YVONNE SCHAFER and SISTER DOLORES NORMAN who both passed away this past week. Over the years both sisters taught at Holy Rosary School and other Catholic Schools in the Diocese. May their memories continue to be a blessing!
I will be gone from the parish beginning Tuesday of this week to enjoy a little time in the warmer climes of our country. I will return on Thursday, February 8. We want to make you aware of the plans for a Super Bowl non-alcohol family party to be held at Holy Rosary on
February 4, starting at 4:30 pm. The Knights, along with other businesses are sponsoring this party and it will be for members of all 4 parishes served by the knights. If you own a business or are personally interested in contributing to the party fund, please contact Jon Stone at the email or phone number below. Everyone who contributes will be acknowledged and
thanked. All monies received will be used for the party, whether it is for food, decorations or prizes! All are welcome, and, in case you haven’t seen them, Holy Rosary recently installed 2 new TV’s downstairs that are quite large and will help facilitate a get together like this! We will have food, fun and football! If you are interested in helping with the planning or coordinating of the party, please contact Jon Stone. This is an event for the entire family. So we hope to see many of you. If the kids like to shoot hoops, or toss a football around, bring the balls and the Gym will be available for them to play in. If there is anything we might have left out, please contact Jon with those ideas. We will ask that parishioners with the last names starting with “A” thru “M” bring veggie trays-chips & dips that sort of stuff, and last names starting with “N” thru “Z” bring a dessert to share. (Or you may bring non-alcoholic beverages to share). We will be providing the Chili, BBQ Meatballs and such. Looking forward to a great time!

"Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be
free of anxieties." - 1 Corinthians 7:32
How much anxiety do we bring upon ourselves by constantly
worrying about not having enough or attaining more
things? God won't necessarily give you everything you want, but He will provide everything
you need. Try this - use the word "pray" instead of the word "worry" in the future.

Adult Faith Formation THE FOOTPRINTS OF GOD: The Story of Salvation History is a video and discussion study of some of the leading figures in our story. Tuesday, 10:00-11:30 am, Holy Family Room. THE KINGDOM OF HAPPINESS: Living the Beatitudes in Everyday Life. Join us this winter for our new dynamic 8 part Bible Study that unveils Jesus’ plan for happiness in the Beatitudes. We live in a world where we are constantly in search for fleeting pleasures in place of true happiness and false promises that actually lead us away from happiness, it’s time more than ever to turn to the Beatitudes and enter into the Kingdom of Happiness. With King-dom of Happiness you will learn how the Beatitudes are much more than nice sayings, they are the path to true happiness charted by Christ himself. You will discover the exposed “anti-Beatitudes” for what they are: the kingdom of man’s false promises of happiness that sadly, only lead to misery. In this program, you will also be inspired by a renewed resolve to live the Beatitudes through video-profiles of real-life people living the Beatitudes in their everyday life. Fea-turing teaching videos by Fr. Jeffrey Kirby, and powerful profiles of normal people living out the Beatitudes in heroic ways, Kingdom of Happiness will not only inform participants about the Beati-tudes, it will show them the way to living them and achieving true happiness. If interested, contact Barbara(bschmidt@holyrosarycc.org) Study guides are $25. Current groups:
Monday 10:00 -11:30 am, Holy Family Room Tuesday February 6, 10:00 -11:30 am, Holy Family Room Wednesday February 21, 6:30 - 8:00 pm Resource Center
Anyone is welcome to join any of theses groups or to form another group.
Lifeline: Follow Me (No, Jesus isn’t talking about Instagram): Mass and Evening Program with Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Fr. David Blume: It’s the most important invitation you’ll ever receive in your life. It’s the invitation of Jesus who says to you, “Follow Me.” It’s the very same invitation Jesus extended to his first disciples. They were leading very ordinary lives. All of that changed when they encountered Jesus and responded to His invitation to “Follow Me.” And the world has never been the same. Without fail, through the centuries of the Church, countless thou-sands upon thousands of courageous Catholic young men and women have responded to that same invitation. For some, it is a call to live a holy, faithful life in marriage or the sacred consecrat-ed single life. But for others, Jesus extends a special call, a call to those willing to boldly serve the Church as a priest or religious brother or sister. Have you considered this call? Would you like to discover more about it? Then, tonight is your night. We’re blessed to have Archbishop Bernard Hebda with us. And from the Archdiocesan Vocations Office, Fr. David Blume will team up with great priests, dynamic religious orders of sisters and brothers and seminarians from Saint John Vianney and Saint Paul Seminary to share their stories on responding to Jesus’ call to follow.
