Digital Photo Story

Mrs. Lang’s English 9

Storyboard FIRST

Team Up

• Work with 2 or 3 other people. • Each create equal portions of the slide show then combine

the portions. • No ONE person should be doing the work. • Each person should have a storyboard sheet(s) showing

their ideas/contributions.• Each person should keep a time log that shows time spent,

what worked on, when worked on (date and time frame), etc.

• The group then works to combine the ideas into one flowing, thorough representation of the theme. Put your group time work on the log sheet too.

Pictures

• Find pictures to convey your ideas.• It is best to use free, non-copyrighted pictures

or take your own pictures. • If you need to use other pictures, you should

cite the sources in MLA format.• Include a title slide in the beginning and a

credit slide in the end.

Pictures

• Put your pictures into a photo slide show on PowerPoint, Picasa, Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, or another free platform you are comfortable with and have access to.

Audio

• Add music throughout to convey a mood / tone that expresses more about the theme.

• Add audio/voice over to tell part of the story and highlight main ideas.

• Each student in a group should do the audio for a part of the photo story.

Audio

• You can record your voice into the Audacity program using a microphone. Audacity is available at school. You can download it at home too, but there’s more than one component to download and your parents might not want you to.

• Mac people can use GarageBand to edit audio.• You can upload your voice via a cell phone to be

saved as an mp3 and add that to your slide show. You can add as many separate mp3s as you want to. I used to use drop.io, but it isn’t available.

Audio

• Google Docs Now Allowing Any Type of File Upload• The semi-GDrive upload feature announced earlier this

month has gone live, giving everyone with Google Docs a 1GB space to store, and share, files of any kind. Here's a look at how it works.

• Log into your Google Docs account, and you should see the notification pictured above, with a more streamlined "Upload" button next to the Create New item.

• Yodio.com is another option.

Words

• Add a few select words on the photo story to add impact / emphasize a point.

• Don’t use too many words.
