Aims

• To oversee the preparation of an Integrated Development Strategy for the Developing Areas in Co. Cork.

• Developing Areas defined by Government as locations where strategically important and rapid development is occurring or is planned.

Research

• Extensive research was carried out on the extent of service co-ordination and prioritisation of these areas by agencies and a report was produced entitled ‘Integrated Development Strategy for Developing Areas in Co. Cork’

Findings

• That the forward planning procedures of agencies highlight differing policy creation structures with little experience of inter- or intra- working methods.

• That there was no formal prioritisation of Developing Areas by other agencies.

Recommendations

• The Interagency group and CDB agreed best way forward was to establish a system to facilitate information gathering from agencies to facilitate co-ordinated forward planning between agencies and to expand project outside Developing Areas to entire county.

Actions

• In November 2011 a conference was held to explore the challenges and solutions –

• Recommendation to set up a website which would map existing services and provide information on future provision of services around the County.

• Overall objectives – co-ordinated forward planning and better co-ordination in community consultation practices.
