Napoleon Gains Power
Napoleon used his military position to increase his power, leading troops into Italy and gaining victory before losing battles in Egypt
By this time (1799) the people of France are frustrated with the continued ineffectiveness of their government (the revolution is 10 years old) and are looking for leadership
Napoleon uses the desire of the French people to sweep into power, and by 1800 he is the elected as the leader of France and is effectively a dictator
