David Doubilet nasceu em 28 de Novembro de 1946 e é fotógrafo subaquático, tendo seu trabalho publicado principalmente pela National Geographic Magazine. Nova-Iorquino, iniciou sua carreira aos 12 anos.

Foi instrutor de mergulho nas Bahamas, quando achou sua motivação em capturar as belezas da natureza no mar em seu todo.

Seu objetivo como fotógrafo é “redefinir os limites fotográficos” todas as vezes que entra na água. Seu interesse levou ao desenvolvimento das câmeras com lentes divididas, permitindo registrar imagens dentro e fora d’água simultaneamente, com focos diferentes em cada parte, mas ambas no mesmo “negativo”.

Sua coletânea de trabalhos mais impressionantes é o livro de registros fotográficos Australia’s Great Barrier Reef .
