Danbridge was foundedby Vagn Jensen (TechnicalDirector) and N.P. Schier-beck (Commercial Director)in Farum in 1949. After en-joying sustained growth formany years, the business wasacquired by Mr. HenningSchmager, an entrepreneurin the field of electronics, in1994. In January 2006, an-other change of ownershipoccurred as Danbridge wassold to Hamann a/s, a lead-

ing Danish manufacturer ofelectronic circuit boards, which is based in the city ofHolbaek. At the helm of the Danbridge managementthere is CEO Gert Nielsen.

Danbridge presentlyemploys seventeen mem-bers of staff and exhibits an annual turnover of twomillion Euros. Its exportrate is a remarkable 99%.

Our interview took placewith Sales Director MaxWatson: “We have salesteams and distributors inaround 22 countries aroundthe globe. Up until 2000,Europe was our biggest single market. This haschanged drastically: Chinais now our most importantmarket, followed by Taiwan,Japan and the UnitedStates.”

The company fully concentrates on the devel-opment and manufacture of state-of-the-art automatictest equipment for capaci-tors and resistors as well as solutions for testing insulation resistance andmeasurement of leakagecurrent in components andmaterial.

The portfolio featureshigh-voltage insulationtesters, megohmmeters andsystems for automaticallytesting CLR components. In addition, the company offers calibration, mainte-nance and repair servicesfor all products sold. Dan-bridge also offers installa-tions and training seminars

for metrology and calibra-tion which it organises withindustrial partners.

One of the most impor-tant products is the DB230capacitor tester used on au-tomated production lines. The instrument can be integrated into sorting machines in an industrialproduction environment andis characterised through itsreliability, user-friendlinessand ease of installation. The DB230 is capable ofcarrying out dual frequency

tests with any combinationof frequencies, for examplethe industry-standard com-bination of a capacitancetest at 1 kHz and a loss fac-tor test at 100 kHz or 1MHz. As standard, the device can sort capacitorsinto bins according to theparameters simultaneouslymeasured at the two fre-quencies.

The range of Danbridgemegohmmeters have beencreated to offer versatile andaccurate measurements up

to 1,000,000 gigaohms. Theinstruments can be used in ahost of applications such astesting the insulation resist-ance in cables and leakagecurrent in capacitors. Theyare microprocessor-controlledand feature a large back-litLCD display for quick andeasy operation. Danbridgemegohmmeters are avail-able in four different ver-sions. Two of these, DB620and DB621, are general-purpose devices, only dif-ferentiated by the formermodel’s floating HV powersupply for HV tests onground level. The DB622has been specifically de-signed for capacitor testingmachines, while the DB625is a high-voltage megohm-meter for test voltages ranging from 50 V to 5 kV.

While Danbridge isvery successful in its core

business of test equipmentfor passive electronic com-ponents, it is poised tobranch out into other areas,as Max Watson concludes:“We are in the process ofdeveloping equipment forthe medical field.”
