This map illustrates damaged buildingsand cultural heritage locations in theAncient City of Palmyra, Syrian ArabRepublic. Using satellite imagery acquired30 March 2016, 18 October 2015, and 26June 2015, UNITAR-UNOSAT identified atotal of 37 damaged structures. Of these,14 were destroyed, 8 severely damaged,and 15 moderately damaged. The majorityof damaged structures were in the vicinity

of the Valley of the Tombs and theNecropolis, west and southwest ofPalmyra. Additionally, a total of 59 craterswere identified in the same area, anindicator of the level of fighting in the area.This is a preliminary analysis and has notyet been validated in the field.
