Cyber Bullying

Cyber Bullying: [sahy-ber-bool-ee-ing] noun The act of harassing someone online by sending or posting mean messages, usually anonymously.

Over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyber bullying.

Well over half of young people do not tell their parents when cyber bullying occurs.

Girls are more likely to be involved in cyber bullying than boys.

I hate you!

You’re stupid, ugly, and no one cares about you.

Over 80% of teens use a cell phone regularly, making it the most popular form of technology and a common medium for cyber bullying.

So how do we stop this major and ongoing problem?

Encourage teens to tell an adult if cyber bullying is occurring. Tell them if they are the victims they will not be punished, and reassure them that being bullied is not their fault.

And to teens: Just think before you turn someone else’s life into a living nightmare, or end their life altogether.
