DEFINITION OF INSTRUCIONAL TECHNOLOGY

• Instructional Technology is the art and study of building a learning system and delivery of the subject matter.

Teaching with technologyTeaching with technology can deepen student learning by supporting instructional objectives. to select the “best” tech tools

What do we mean by “technology”?The term “technology” refers to advancements in the methods and tools we use to solve problems or achieve a goal.

Types of technology used in the classroom

1. Use of computers in the classroom: Desktop computers and portable computers commonly known as notebooks or laptops.New technologies like the iPod or Galaxy tablet.

2. Multimedia ProjectorMultimedia projectors, can project images, presentations, or videos from a computer, laptop, or document camera onto a screen or wall.

3. Document CameraA document camera displays real-time visuals on a larger scale. The camera is connected to a multimedia projector. 4. Interactive Whiteboard

An interactive whiteboard is basically a screen that interacts with the images you project by touching the screen or using special markers.

5. Creating class websites and blogs: Teachers can create class blogs where they post assignments. wordpress.com or blogger.com.

6. Use of digital microphones in the classroom: The microphone will transmit the voice to the loud speakers and every student will hear their teacher clearly.

7. Use of mobile devices: Teachers and students can use smart-phones for academic purposes in the classroom. Teachers can tell their students to use mobile apps like ‘‘PIAZZA‘‘

8. Use of online media: Teachers and students can both use online streaming Medias to learn in the classroom. Like Youtube.com.

9. Use of online study tools: Online study tools like "Dynamic Periodic Table” (ptable.com) which can be used by Chemistry students …..”Math way” (Mathway.com) this helps math students

10. Online collaboration tools, such as those in Google Apps, allows students and instructors to share documents online, edit them in real time and project them on a screen.

11. Presentation software (such as PowerPoint) enable instructors to embed high-resolution photographs, diagrams, videos and sound files

12. Course management tools such as Canvas allow instructors to organize all the resources students need for a class. All courses are automatically given a Canvas site!

13. Lecture-capture tools, such as Panopto, allow instructors to record lectures directly from their computer, without elaborate or additional classroom equipment.
