Cowtown Cruisin’ for a Cure, September 16, 2006

Twenty-one cars signed up for this annual event which benefits prostate cancer re-search. The event was held at Sundance Square, Down-town Fort Worth. Our club showed our support in the best possible manner – to-gether as a group with our cars. Our Mercedes-Benz

automobiles have once again provided a unique presence to this annual event, so much so that our club was presented the first Club Participation award. After we got parking out of the way and got settled, our members were treated to a tour of Downtown Fort Worth conducted by Doug Harman, President of the Fort Worth CVB and former Fort Worth City Manager. No one can represent Fort Worth better than Dr. Harman. Our club was honored that he showed us around. We started the tour from the CVB offices, walked to nearby historical sites in downtown and visited the Fort Worth Natural History Museum’s 150 Years of Fort Worth exhibit, housed in what used to be Fire Station No. 1. At noon we had a private lunch at the Reata, located beneath the famous glass dome of what was once the Caravan of Dreams jazz dinner theatre. After lunch, some members enjoyed the beautiful cars entered in the event, while oth-ers sampled a few of the over 200 types of beers served by the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, which was coincidentally located right beside our parking area. Finally, we attended the awards ceremony at 4pm.
