ADORATION
Prelude
Call to Worship | Isaiah 55:1-3; Psalm 36:7-9 Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.

CONFESSION
Call to Confession | Revelation 3:17-20 You say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Song of Confession Cast Down, O Lord, the Idols
Assurance of Pardon | from 2 Corinthians 8:9 & Ephesians 2:4-9; Philippians 3:8 Brothers and Sisters, may you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
And God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

FORMATION & COMMISSION
Catechesis |New City Catechism Q47: Does the Lord’s Supper add anything to Christ’s atoning work? A: No, Christ died once for all. The Lord’s Supper is a covenant meal celebrating Christ’s atoning work; as it is also a means of strengthening our faith as we look to him, and a foretaste of the future feast. But those who take part with unrepentant hearts eat and drink judgment on themselves.
Congregational Prayer
Reading of the Word Luke 18:18-30
This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God!
Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heav’nly host: Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Thomas Ken, 1709 | Louis Bourgeon’s Genevan Psalter, 1551|CCLI#1095616/20146299

†THE LORD’S SUPPER We invite you to the Lord’s Table if
you are a baptized Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a faithful
member or adherent of this or some other congregation. By eating the
bread and drinking the cup you are saying you are a sinner without hope
except for the mercy of God, and that you are in fellowship with God’s
people. If you have any doubts or questions about your participation, we
encourage you to speak with one of the pastors or elders.
